i just bought coffee at dunkin donuts and

stilleto

ELITE MENTOR
EF VIP
i only had $100 bill.

the kid, with long hair, a few stray hairs on his chin, and the donut uniform and hat holds the bill up to the light to check to see if it's counterfeit.

when did the US treasury start putting employees to work in donut shops? and, why is this boy earning $7 an hour (or whatever minimum wage is) when we have a real life monetary inspector wasting his skills selling donuts and lattes??

lol they are trained to do that. i was trained to do that too when I worked menial jobs. you know, and once you're told to do something, you just do it.

lol...

that happens everywhere though. doesn't matter where.

i paid w/ a 50 the other day at chicken kitchen (little chicken chop chop chain down here) and the haitian woman who barely spoke english did the same thing. happens everytime i pay with a $100 too

to mess with them, I ask them not to rub it too hard or the ink will come off on their hand.

Also, if someone with me uses a charge card, I always say so the cashier can hear me "how did u make, it looks almost real"...

never happens to me, i pay with credit card everywhere I go. they never even check my signature.

i remember a time when if you wanted to pay with credit card, you had to have an ID to go with it and they would inspect the signature to make sure it matched. now they dont even touch or see the credit card and sometimes, signature is not required.

especially since you probably looked like a shady character.

i do, its true.
i had dark sunglasses on (cause i went out without makeup and i'm hideous).

shady people always wear shades. its a disguise.

what were you trained to look FOR when you look at the bills? the watermark?

It wasn't meant to be offensive Stilleto...

He didn't think *you* were making counterfit money, he thought that one of your Johns was paying you with phony 100's....

Little did he know, you only charge 5 bucks.

don't give him too much credit. . .every bill $20 and higher has a plastic strip built into one end of the paper that you can see when you hold it up to the light. . .been like that for years. . .doesn't make counterfeiting impossible, just difficult. . .

the strip like Digimon said.

You didnt know that? I thought everyone knew about that strip. You never worked a cash register for 5 bucks an hour then I guess LOL

wouldn't it ironic if the one time he didn't check a bill, which takes all of 3 secods to spot those watermarks, it was fake and his drawer was short $100 which would come out of his $231 paycheck?

if i didn't spend all of 9 seconds double-checking the batch card of one of our products and a compounder adds 1% instead of .1% salt, the product will be ruined and i cost the company lots of dollars

what's the difference? is my job more important than his?

fuckin holier than thou snobs

you douche, i wasn't saying my 'job' is any more important than his- he's a kid anyway- its great that he's working.
my point was i was wondering what he was checking FOR, because i would think spotting a counterfeit bill takes some skill. if all you had to do was hold it up to a light, it would be pretty easy to print off some bills.

if my math is correct, 20 to earn the hundred. . .which begs the question, how did you end up getting paid with a single bill?? bachelor party???

i did. in college i worked in the men's underwear department at bloomingdales.

nobody ever paid in cash though.

pfflol i'm just kidding, don't ruin a nice bowl

and yes i giggle quietly to myself when cashiers do such things as well

does that make me a snob too :worried:

its kinda like walmart cashiers checking if your signiture matches your credit card sig lol

'zackly.

i mean, i'm sure there's people who have tried to use HORRIBLY bad counterfeit bills, or a stolen credit card where they don't even come close to the signature, but... eh.

i just sold my first glass bowl. :)

yes, you're a snob.

'cause you don't work in a donut shop.

my son just got his first job. he's PUMPED because it pays $8.50 an hour. :) it's cute.

lol bloomingdales!

swole said you're a snob.

its true too. a shady one.

i was 16 with no driver's license and it was the only store within walking distance of my house.

when i learned to drive, i lied about my age and got a job managing an adult video store.

mostly the same customers at both jobs.

haha nice, my sister just got her first job (at 16) working in a day care, i told her she is very lucky

he has to learn sometime tho, might as well start appreciating money at an early age

if it weren't for shitty jobs we wouldn't know how nice it is now

retail is teh suck, unless you weren't lucky enough to have a college degree (gotta respect people regardless)

after he learned how much he'd be making, he came home and was like, "HOLY SHIT! that's $350 a WEEK!!!!"
i told him he has to put 50% in the bank, and i told him about taxes. he's still thrilled.

i think he's going to come home so tired he'll be crying though- he's doing construction and farm help (he's 15).

why no license at 16?

also lol @ same customers

i couldn't drive alone until 17. that's the whole state.

here, kids can get farmer's licenses and drive at 16.
I had started college at 16 and still couldn't drive. I couldn't even drink legally until a year after I graduated.

oh that sucks.

i lived in CT at 16 and they had a law where you couldnt start your behind the wheel training until your 16th birthday.

in IL, you can start behind the wheel training with a drivers permit at 15 i believe so by the day you turn 16, you can go apply for a license. like a nice 16th bday present.

i like the new laws though, that impose restrictions on young drivers (under 18) with regards to time of day and also passengers allowed in the vehicle.

yup, i like them too.
i think it was from some study where they found that kids drove MUCH more recklessly when they had friends in the car.
