I have a question about Jury Duty?!

I have a scheduled plane ticket that I bought last week for November 20th. Well fuck me running if I didn't just get a jury summins yesterday in the mail for November 20th. is this a viable excuse to get out of this shit?

Nope they will laugh at you if you try to use that as an excuse. I know here in my jurisdiction we can remail them back in with excuse for change of location or date and you can write in the reason...See if you can change location to next town or a town closer (either or) and for an excuse write that you have no valid transportation. It has worked here. However it takes a while for them to ok it so I would send it out the sooner the better.

I know here in MA, you have (1) free pass (to simply turn down jury duty) I used mine up when I waas like 19, and have had jury-duty since...

I went through this exact senerio this year. I called the contact and told them tje situation, I had to send them a copy of my ticket info with date I purchased it and they sent me a letter to let me out of it

This has been the common response from people the few people I've asked. What city do you reside in?

There is no excuse for jury duty in Canada I think. Unless you have an emergency, and I don't know what is classified as an emergency by law.

This will not work. I'm scheduled for "call" on the day I'm scheduled to fly out. I will not have even been interviewed before this time.
