My time clock is so fucked right now! I just went from a year on Pacific time back to Central time a week ago, now I'm changing time again. It's funny how hard it is to adjust to just 3 hours. Oh well!

Yeah I'm pretty tired right now......stayed up a little late last nite which turned out to be even later cuz of the time change.....bleh!

Hey bro... you still that sweet hookup on the Beverly Supps?

Alright, I've been thinking about this and thinking about this and I don't know the answer, will someone PLEASE tell me:

If moving our clocks ahead one hour three weeks earlier saves our country 1% in energy use ... why not just LEAVE THE MUTHERFUCKERS THERE, PERIOD?!? Jesus I hate fucking around with my sleep schedule, I have enough problems under the best of circumstances, takes me three damn months to feel properly rested and by then it's nearly time to move the fucking clocks around.

I've been out there doing consulting for 3 supplement companies in AZ. I bought my own as well, which I am in the process of selling off. Now I am back in Cinci and I will be working from home for awhile doing consulting for other companies and the three in AZ still. I'm going strictly into SEO work which is where the bank is.

You look great by the way in your pics. Great job my friend! I hope you have been well.

Actually, no, it wasn't. Farm folk either don't give a shit, or actually dislike it if their business has to do with animals that are on a schedule (dairy cattle, horses). Animals don't change their schedules around like we do. You can't GET the cows to come in from the fields an hour earlier so you're still milking in the dark.

It only benefits city people.

But my original question was: if starting daylight saving three weeks earlier saves our country 1% in energy usage, why the hell don't we just shove the clocks over to daylight saving, permanently, stop screwing with people's sleep schedules, and save an additional 16% or so?

That would be the logical thing to do but remember this is the goverment logic isnt really there thing. ;)

yes it was, so the farmers would have an extra hour of sunlight in the spring and summer etc.

just adapt? it is only an hour. the body can adapt to sleep changes quickly

Okay, so exactly how many stalls have you mucked in your time? My mother grew up on a full time dairy farm in upstate New Jersey, my father grew up on a large family farm in Tennessee and at one time we owned 18 head of horses and operated a small farm and taught riding in PA. I'm telling you, the time change is a PITA. Summertime comes, you want the horses in to feed them so you can go home, they look at you like you're out of your mind. They know they have another hour in that field so fuck you. Wintertime on a dairy farm and the cows are literally knocking the fence down to get in because THEY know when they're supposed to be milked. It doesn't do SHIT for farmers other than cause them an inconvenience. They do what they do according to their own schedule and the schedule of their property and animals, not a clock. And in the days when there were no huge collection/refrigeration tanks for the milk, the milk truck showing up at a different time of day was a major issue. Like powerbuilder said, golfers like it, farmers hate it.

About adaptation, when you get to be 40 or so you tell me how easy it is for your body to adapt to changing it's sleep schedule

I guess I was wrong.. I was told it was for farmers from my one of my jr high teachers. If I am wrong I will admit it

lol! My grandpa walked to school up hill in 3 feet of snow :o

It is only an hour you can tough it out. try flying to Eastern Asia several times a year. I deal with complete day changes almost. Just adapt. another day another smile. No need to sweat the small stuff :)

menopause is for real I guess

this time of the year i work till 1, 2, sometimes 3 in the morning and then i'm back up by 7am. . .i do this for days on end. . .no pussy-ass little clock change is gonna upset my apple cart. . .

I enjoy the extra sleep time on the first original day..But I hate the fact that it is now 7:07 and my kids have quiet time at 7, as of now they are bouncing off the friggin walls. I hate how it effects them

Menopause is for real I guess

Holy shit, it hasn't got anything to do with menopause (christ I'm only 42 don't fucking rush it, thank you) My husband is the same way and I'll guarantee you at least half of people on this board over 30 are in the same boat. It's definitely true if you've had trouble sleeping all your life. Some people just don't cope well with having their circadian rhythms screwed with, and people who have no problem with that don't get it (just like morning people don't understand night owls).

If you genuinely are curious, here's a really comprehensive look at Daylight Savings:

http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/c.html

But it was originally enacted during WWI to conserve fuel, short and sweet.

I guess I was wrong about Daylight savings. Big deal. lol!

as for the 1 hour difference in sleep. well if that is the worst thing to happen one's day. Well I have nothing to add :)

you guys take this place (WAY) too serious

maybe I would understand if I 10,000 posts

I dont think it has anything to do with age, more as an individual that already has problems with sleep. Time change dosent effect me at all. I just go with the flow. I can sleep anytime and wake up at anytime. I dont think about it. I think if you think about it too much it messed you up.

But I do agree they should just leave it alone know, no more changing times leave it as it is since it "conserves energy"

Can't argue with you there, and I'm one of those people who have had sleep problems on and off most of my life (including childhood). People who have no problem falling asleep, no matter where they are, when it is, they have no idea of what a blessing that is. I go on vacation, it's two days before I sleep well.

However, aging affects sleep and sleep quality for a good percentage of the population, that's an undenyable fact.
