I like you, WB, but I honestly don't see why Debaser deserved being called an asshole. He was simply concerned for Louden's injuries, and he's got a point: simply training somewhat lighter is a partial solution at best.

Now, I wouldn't characterize you as a troll. You've been positive 99% of the time :) However, it wouldn't hurt to relax a little dude...telling Debaser to stay out of your way, that you'll skin him, serving warnings etc. is extreme, not like the "you" I have seen elsewhere in the forum.

There's no reason we all cannot get along here. EF has consistently impressed me with the camaraderie shared among its members, something I cannot say for many websites.

Feuding is energy better spent on the iron.

Im nice til someone crosses the line. The one Ive set in my mind

Nice to hear from you Needsize.

I have decided that my bodytype is better suited for building muscle than hoisting crazy weights.

For one, my joints aren't thick and secondly, my limbs are relatively long. I have always had to build a lot of muscle to become stronger.

I now train a lot like you except I am not using 5 x 5.

Same thing here, my small frame was a boon for a bodybuilder, not good for a powerlifter. Myself, I'm not using 5x5 now either, frankly at this point I dont want to move those kind of weights right now. since my strength is in the shitter from the show anyway, I've dropped all the weights back down, and am doing things differently. Everything is still progressive resistance, but each set is to failure or very close.
heres an example
Quads (remember, pretty much to failure, and adding weight to each exerise each week
squats 2x5-8 reps
leg press 2x 8-10 reps
hacks 2x8-10 reps with a drop on the last set

I'm finding I'm responding well to this, strength is going up, I'm growing again, and the shorter workouts are nice. I will go back to 5x5 but I like this for now

If being "negative" means giving the best advice Debaser knows how, not simply telling Louden want he wants to hear, that negativity is the most valuable thing anyone's said in this thread. I also think he happens to have a point: Louden should at least be reminded to proceed very carefully.

More importantly, I am a little dishearted to see three of you dogging Debaser for no good reason. How does bashing him remotely help Ian/Swain?

This stuff makes me wonder...is all this "brother" talk and the pats on the back for PRs only extended to people who flatter us in turn? Is that it?

I stick up for what I believe in, and I firmly believe attacking Debaser like this is not cool, guys. I see no grounds to call him names and even less so to start talking about his posting habits in general, which are not only off-topic but simply not true.

I'll ask once more, respectfully, ease up guys. This isn't the EF I know.

Good post. Is Debaser always bitching about something? I haven't read enough of his posts to see that. But even so, the negativity isn't called for, accomplishes nothing, and is beneath the general level of this board's quality. If 20 others are offering general encouragement, it doesn't hurt to have 1 contrary opinion, provided that opinion is based on genuine concern and not merely the desire to disagree.

?...ok man, but I don't understand at all how Debaser "crossed that line" before you called him an asshole (or somesuch). What did he do? As Bill O'Reilly says, tell me where I'm going wrong here :)

I read his post three times and found nothing wrong with his advice. Sometimes caution is the better part of valor, and given the severity of Ian's reported injuries, I agreed w/ Debaser to an extent: I think lighter training's not a bad idea, but I'd still consider some therapy, and wouldn't rule out taking off enough time to let things fully heal. That'd mean less lifting today, but would ensure a lifetime of hard lifting "tomorrow," you know?

I respect a man who will say something at the risk of being unpopular, so much so that I will stick up for him if I think he's being treated somewhat unfairly. Solely based on Debaser's advice to Louden I don't see anything objectionable, anything to suggest how quitting training forever is desirable, etc. You understand where I'm coming from.

All that said, Ian's back at it, and sounds like things went well. Kudos, LS :) I'd still advise you to monitor your joints carefully, but given the kinds of poundages you've reported in the past, I'd have to guess these workloads shouldn't aggravate your injuries much. If they do start bothering you again down the road, you can seek the appropriate treatment at that time, no?

There are a couple reasons walkingbeast has a thing for me:

1. I told this kid he was being ridiculous for starting to use a gram of gear a week. He's 180 lbs at 6'3". walkingbeast apparently would rather say "HIT THAT SHIT BROLY" than anything constructive. Now the kid probably feels that his use is justified because of walkingbeast and the others' positive remarks. Now, WHO is being the irresponsible one here?

2. I was arguing the point that there is such a thing as a genetic limit. That's right, I'm as dumbfounded as you are. He thinks that by my mere admission that such a concept exists, that I just "make excuses" and "limit myself." Apparently, he doesn't believe that genetic limits exist, and chooses to flame me for believing the contrary. He also makes fun of me for reading Hardgainer magazine, despite the fact that it contains a wealth of information for ANY trainee, with any genetic background. I'm not even a hardgainer myself yet have learned a great deal from this magazine and Stuart McRobert. So has realgains, Ironaddict, and some other extremely big/strong guys I know. Apparently those guys are "just making excuses," though--that must be the reason realgains has only hit a mere 800+ deadlift and 700+ lb squat.

Speaking of buffalo wings, Applebee's all-you-can-eat boneless wings night is going to result in their destruction. I wouldn't be surprised if they posted a loss this year, solely due to my visits to their restaurant.
