Hi All,
A few years back, I hurt my sternum area doing heavy (for me) benchpressing.
In the middle of my left pec where it attaches to the sternum, it feels like a muscle strain. I saw a sports medicine doctor at the time and he said that I "irritated the fibrous cartilage in that area".
I gave weightlifting a long break (approximately 1 year) and switched to cycling as a primary form of exercise because I needed to build endurance.
Anyway, I'm back doing benches and dips and this sternum area is bugging me again. I saw another doc and was prescribed an anti-inflammitory.
I've never had an injury like this before and am not sure how to treat it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
R1
