How to Eat more protein

solidspine said:
Macro,

Where do you get your ginger root and what amount have you been taking,

Thank you for all the information!

I'm not macro, but GNC has it pretty cheap. I take 500mg a few times per day. It really helps with the bloating you can get from lots of protein.

brand- any- the cheaper the better- though with extracts be careful thy can be very strong.

dosage 500-1000mg of ginger root (powder not extract) with every meal

Glad this post is back at the top...i've been using it for the last couple months and it has helped a great deal...

A must for everyone here in my opinion...

The Japanese have been doing it for centuries. That's why you get it with sushi. Good post and correlation.
Shiatsu

Been getting large carrot juice (good for liver) at whole foods market, saw the juice
bar guys adding ginger to juicer the for their own drinks.
Not big on the taste, kind of peppery burn to your throut, (if they add a lot), but does settle the stomach, didn't know about the protien thing.

When you go to Bennihana (or most any Japanese) they have two little dishes:

one with ginger: cool and jin
one with mustard: hot and jang

Or is that backwards? Well you get the idea.

great post man, i have to say, the guys on this board are awesome. I'm gonna try that ginger root, hopefully it'll help me stop being so bloated haha

Bump!!!

I have always had really bad nausea after drinking my protein shakes.Sometimes it comes back up & I have to go down another
one again.Im going to the health food store tommorow. So thats
1 g before meals 2-3 times daily right?

Two things:
1. M69 - I think your post number went up by about 80 with all the smilely faces you posted.

2. How much of my root do I need to give Ginger from Gilligans Island to get the benefits of ginger root?

Awesome Info.

I've been using Ginger Root for 3 months now and
the results truly are FANTASTIC.

Great work Macro.

Amazing!!! I'm sittin' here rubbing my belly full o' protein and fartin' up a storm when I have a perfectly good bottle of ginger pills on the counter. My gf uses them for sea-sickness, you think I would have figured this one out. Thanks Macro...;) :elephant:

If you want you're body to be able to digest the foods you eat better.. Take a couple caps of digestive enzymes before each meal or protein shake. I recently started doing this, am on no cycle and have been making gains since the week I started it. Go figure.

The thing that I have found that works so that you can digest more protein (say 80+ grams per meal) is GINGER ROOT. It has 180 times the protein digesting power of papaya.
I recently added 500-1000mg of ginger root right before each meal- digestion has NEVER been better.

This is of the extract variety of Ginger correct?

I've been geeting bloated somthing fierce due to all the protein shakes and food...I will try 500 mg of ginger root 3x ED

Not only for protein digestion, but overall, ginger is very beneficial for our health, stamina, libido, etc...why do you think China has the highest population, hehe ..?

"Taking GingerRoot may allow you to turn your physique into a mountain of shredded mass."

Hey Macro, I'm using GNC Brand Concentrated GR 1000mg before high protein meals, particularly a post-workout meal(s) that contain nearly 100grams of whey and casein spaced over an hour and I don't get gas....

Also my wife came back to me, I won the lottery and my penis grew and incredible 10 inches from GingerRoot!

Wow....... read through this awesome thread and got some great info. But I was disappointed that it was not mentioned that Ginger is also a Cox-2 Inhibitor. I've been taking it for a year now. I first used it in extract dropper form, wow that kicked my ass. Now I take it in a gel cap form called Zyflamend from www.new-chapter.com

But I take it for other reasons than digestion. I take it because Cox-2 Inhibitors are better at reducing inflammation naturally than asprin and won't burn the shit out of your stomach and make you bleed like Asprin, Ibu, etc.

If you lifters on Ginger Extract have noticed that joint pain went down, now you know why. It's so powerful that the stuff in Ginger is now patented and prescribed for Inflamation.

Now that I know it does even more....... well ... the more the merrier!

Macro....do you think 500 mg Be4 each meal is a good dose? Is it possible to devvelop side effects over time. If not them im gona get a lifetime supply.. no more Protein Gut.:D Make it my Macro/Ulter stack.......ups didi i just say that out loud l i meant :D Yohimburn/ ginger stack.

Ginger root definately works!!!!!!!!!!!!

.. I just don't like the ginger breath/burp that associates with it..
but hey, it isn't as bad compared to when it goes out the other way :)

macrophage69alpha - Would using metoformin (slows gastric emptying / food absorbtion) negate or hinder ginger roots protein digesting effectiveness? or would the two offer some potentially synergistic effects?

I can see ginger root working good with a nutrient like ALA (alpha lipoic acid) and ALA combined with metaformin has synergistic effects so I thought i'd ask....

Thanks

ala would be and is helpful (though it also tends to give one low blood sugar).. middle of the night cravings

metformin (not a fan)

Why? I was considering it per JMW's advice.

its effectiveness seems very limited in non diabetics.. ALA "seems" much more effective.. but it effectiveness will vary it is certainly worth trying to see how you personally respond to it.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations to buy cheap Ginger root ?

I'm in Singapore and the GNC here is charging about USD $14 for only 60caps, 1000mg.

I've tried sourcing for online sites, but mostly the shipping charges are exorbitant.

Any recommendations ? Please...

fuckin a my friends!

looking at my gut balloon over the course of a day was really starting to bum me out.

many thanks!

haha yeh i just found it from some other post that had been stickied. stoked.

anyway m69a.. do you work for a supplement/nutrient company or something? just looking at your sig..

ah k awesome

just wondering about the doses, i get the ~1g but how much is one gram if im just cutting a little bit of a ginger root?

like 1/2 cubic centermeter or what?

i dont have access to any half decant scales sadly.

I've been taking ginger for a while now.

The cheapest way is to just buy the ginger root and boil it in water. I do mine with Hibiscus and Ginseng. I drink it first thing in the AM. It is pretty good.

Sometimes, I have a mango while it boils. I put the mango pit in the tea before pouring and it sweetens it up a bit. :)

I also cook with ginger. I sautee garlic and ginger in the pan before cooking my eggs. I also use it with my fried veggies.

I don't understand spending money for a supplement when you can just eat or drink it.

God al'mighty: macro, conan, and ranger are still on here. I figured all of you pimpins would be retired on a beach somewhere...

macro - any opinions on candied ginger? Other than the sugar coating, I understand it works as well as fresh ginger, powdered, capsules, tea, etc... I think 2 pieces = 500mg ginger

bought me a pound...gonna try it out for a while

if it works, I may even re-introduce sesamax into my regimen :)
