How can you ask for a prenob from someone you marry?

MattTheSkywalker said:
i will require it. divorce laws are outdated

I used to agree with sk* that a prenup would say there is no trust. I disagree now. Guys are terrified of marriage because of the shit women do during a divorce, so I'd sign a prenup, but you can bet he'd be signing one too.

This reminds me (as everything does) of the Seinfield episode where George asks the chick to sign a prenup. She laughs and says, "Sure George, I make more than you do"

Not really. It is not about trusting her. It is about fighting against an unfair law.

Why should I lose 50% of all of my assets if we decide to go our separate ways?

This was a law that was made in order to encourage men to stay married longer and reduce the divorce rate but it ended up being a law that women use to torture and blackmale men.

Therefore, if you love each other then sign an agreement that claims that you will leave the relationship with what you both came in with and split anything that you both made together.

That is fair.

Like I said, the meaning of marriage has changed throughout the years. Sad really ...

People used to once get married as an eternal thing.

Will there ever be a show as hilarious?
I think not.

Most people it doesn;t even really matter. I have significant loss exposures..for 99.99999% of marriages it is irrelevant.

Pre nups don't impact child support either.

The problem is that you guys are looking at marriage as a financial investement and not an act of love.

No...it means I don't want to lose assets that most people would need 1500 years to earn, and that my spouse did not do anything to contribute to.

I'm not looking at marriage as an investment. Things women do as revenge during a divorce can be brutal. I have friends that have done this type of thing... it is wrong and there is no reason for it. I don't even understand (if there aren't children) why a woman would even want to depend on an ex financially and have any ties to that person.

Ugh, you guys aren't getting it.

See the problem is that you are talking about divorce before even getting married.

When I get married, I better god damn well know I am not gonna get divorced.

It's about trust, and one of the biggest reasons that the divorce rate is so high in the US is cause the trust has died. People are thinking about how to protect themselves from the person they supposedly love.
