holy douche baggery at the gym

yesterday, my gym is around 3 pretty big colleges. we always get a few new college guys this time of year.

in walks this guy with jeans, work boots, extra small tank top, gloves, weight belt, and SUNGLASSES. he entered the gym with all this shit on. huge signs everywhere - no jeans, boots or you will be asked to leave. i am in awe of the spectacles.

he is a fatter dude, looks new or maybe a year or 2 in the gym. making noises and calling attention to himself by throwing dbs and such. about 20 minutes after his arrival there is a loud whistle. gets alot of peoples attention, but not SUNGLASSES. the owner of the gym (who whistled) walks on the floor and yells, "hey sunglass man, maybe you couldnt read the sign with the dark shades but no jeans and no boots, lets go".

the funny part. everyone is watching now and some dude from the far corner of the gym yells, "leave the fucking glasses in the car too buddy". people start laughing and watching the walk of shame.

felt bad alittle, but the sunglasses is what caused the reaction. bet he doesnt come back.

Total douche baggery for sure, but what the fuck is with the whistle and the public humiliation?

Is this a gym that you pay a fee to go to?

yea. the owner is really, really cool. his issue has been the jeans and boots messing with equipment. he has posted signs, not printed notes but signs he had made upon entering the gym its eye level when you check in....absolutely no boots, jeans, street clothes. then after card scanning there is the enterance door, huge sign at eye level on the door. turn to the left for cubby holes, huge sign to the right, upon entering the bathroom, huge sign. its posted everywhere! ive seen him walk onto to the floor and take people off before, each time these people looked normal.

i get the feeling he thought, by the guys appearance, that he said fuck the signs im rolling as is. i mean the guy shouldve had a sign on him saying look at me.

hes a great guy the owner but i know 2 things get him way pissed, the jeans/boots and mud being tracked in the gym.

Most likely because street clothes are bound to have buttons and other things that will wear upholstery a lot quicker than your standard workout gear. People don't realize most of the commercial equipment in gyms run anywhere from $2,500 - $7,500 per piece. And it can cost hundreds of dollars just to reupholster one.

sadly I see some reasonably jacked guys that do this. mine is on for like a total of one minute during a 60 minute workout

the weight belt is used 95% of the time to sinch in peoples waists line giving them a larger appearance. that shit doesnt bother me, i just laugh it off.

the sunglasses were AWESOME!!!!!!! it was so funny yet so sad.

shit is painful though, i can barely take it for my max effort sets

a lot of guys have the belt on the loosest setting for the whole workout, thinking it makes them look cool

smith bench is awesome for times when you have an injured shoulder. allows for the same movement while relieving the support muscle from the shoulder.

yeah agree
i think it does serve a purpose...but a lot of times it's lazyness
i tuck my elbows and never flair so my shoulders are solid

i use the smith for hack squats or calf raises sometimes
i like it for seated military.
the free weight military get up at my gym is hard to use solo
gotta reach waay back to get the bar, strains too much

yeah some military setups are pretty bad, I haven't done serious pressing for shoulders in over a year though

That makes me laugh. At my gym, I have the same problem only its high school kids. They are all of 120lbs, wearing wife beaters and baggy shorts that are 3 sizes too large (white kids mind you). Then they do 1 set per exercise and act like they are tough shit.

NOTHING irks me more than people wearing sunglasses indoors! I work in retail and I was to punch people in the face if they come up to me wearing sunglasses.

They wear shades indoors so you can't see them staring @ cawks...well at least that's what pick3 said :qt:
