Hit 315x6 yesterday

Heaviest I've gone on flat bench since my pec tear 5 months ago. This was the exact weight and reps where the tear occured. Needless to say I was a bit nervous, but the weight felt super easy and it didn't hurt my pec and today I feel great. I'm guessing another 3-4 months to get back to where I was before the tear.

Cheers,

your mentality is amazing i try to keep positive and am most the time i am, but i get frustrated with stalls or plateaus . its great that 3-4 months isnt a painful thing for you to think of

Nothing wrong with getting frustrated just don't dwell on it. I look at this like a marathon not a sprint. I set multi stage goals for myself so that I can continually accomplish smaller ones while working towards intermediate and long term ones. The mind is the most powerful facet of lifting so having a clear head and strong will is way more important than the actuall lifting.

As they say "Rome wasn't built in a day"

Glad to hear it. You must have been really anxious prior to doing that weight with the tear in the back of your head. Congrats!

Way to go Bro. I know from experience that injuries are harder to get past mentally than physically. Way to push past it all.

I was going to start thread about how I hit incline dumbell presses with 100 pounders for the 1st time yesterday......but it seems moot now.

Seriously, nice recovery Scotts

Good job bro. Take it slow and be safe until you feel 100%. Can I ask if you do any specific upper body warm up before your heavy pressing? I am also interested in your split. Do you use Push/Pull type days and then event training days in the same week?

Good recovery bro. Slow and steady is the right way to go.

Thanks man.

Basic split looks like this

Mon- Chest/Heavy ab work
Tues- Dead or rack pulls/back
Wed- Cardio/Bis (not really doing this now since I am trying to gain weight)
Thurs- Shoulders/Tris
Fri- Squats/Light ab work
Sat- Event training day

I can be more specific if you want.

I'm very jealous of you, that's about where I was at before I ended up with a torn supraspinatus (workplace accident) and unfortunately will probably never be able to flat bench again. It's such a rush to put up weight like that, you'll only go up from here.

Awesum. what is your next step?

Just keep going. I'm doing each week by how I feel so if I feel great I add more weight if not I don't. I'm not in any hurry here so I just take it one workout at a time.

I remember reading your original thread saying you tore your pec. What were you repping/maxing before the tear?

Great job getting back up to speed so quick!

edit* still have that video from when you tore it? :worried:

Max was probably 420ish. I was doing reps at 315 when it tore was planning on hitting 10-15 reps but it tore on rep 6.

The vid is still in my vid log probably on page two or three since I haven't updated it in a while.
