When to Seek Medical Care

A first seizure is a reason to visit your doctor or a hospital's Emergency Department. For someone with a diagnosed seizure disorder, a change in seizure patterns or more frequent seizures are reasons to see the doctor.

Visits to a hospital's Emergency Department are not needed for everyone with a seizure. Some seizures are emergencies, in these cases.

* A seizure that continues for more than 5 minutes (call 911)

* Breathing difficulty (call 911)

* Persistent confusion or unconsciousness (call 911)

* Injuries sustained during a seizure

* A first seizure

Just for reference, read this

Curling,
First off I hope your wife is doing better. As someone stated earlier, since your wife has a diagnosed siezure disorder, it is not necessary to have her taken to the hospital after every siezure. I would, however, advise you to keep an eye on any changes in the following:

Frequency of siezures
Length of the siezures
Type of siezures( If she changes the type of siezure she has)
If it is taking her longer to come out of the post-ictal state

If there is a change of any of the above, she needs to see her Neurologist as soon as possible.

When she is having a siezure, never try to put anything in her mouth(bitestick). you could break her teeth, hurt her jaw, or have your finger bitten. Never hold her down, she could dislocate joints, pull/strain muscles/ligaments.

Siezures are scary to see. If she is sitting, ease her to the floor. Clear an area around her and let the siezure run its course.

Many people lead normal lives once their siezures are under control.

Good luck,
Don

Oh that is cold. But it is not as cold as the amount of money she spends dude beside the medical crap. But I swore for better or worse so I do the best I can but I also got to make sure we can pay the bills and have a retirement. So give me a break on being frugile with what she hasn't spent.
make sure she has her next seisure at the top of your staircase, and then after one more hospital bill, your problem is solved.
