Hello From Airborne School

How cool would it be to sneak around at night gathering Intel.
It would suck doing the paperwork and Politics stuff...

After retirement you could join "The COMPANY"

The entire ranger school experience can be summed up in two words:

IT SUCKS.

It isn't super hard, but IT SUCKS. You won't be asked to do any one thing that is physically superhuman, but IT SUCKS. The real challenge is in your mind, to not quit, because IT SUCKS. It is no fun to be tired, hungry and dirty (plus cold or hot and wet) for long periods of time. In fact, IT SUCKS.

But after 61 days, you'll never have to do it again.

Fucking BINGO....Perfect answer!!!

Also Fro...get there early, head to Ranger Joes, buy 2 PC's(patrol caps) have them sew on the Ranger eyes(square knot and 2 half hitches)....Once at Benning, some fucking RI will look at your cover, then rip the eyes off the cap, and tell you to re-sew them on before you eat....head back to the barracks, chill for a bit, grab the extra PC and head back...when time affords you, re-sew the eyes back on the other PC....Might save ya a meal, and believe me, all the RI's know the tricks of this, and smuggling "Poogie Bait" on patrols...get caught with " Poogie Bait " and it's your ass Bro!!!

Lots of good posts.....Well 1 more day and all we have is safety briefings and demonstrations...WOOHOO As long as the Isolated thunderstorms predicted hold off I'll be able to jump and graduate on time.

I'm less than 3 weeks from when I leave for basic. Running every day and getting faster each time. This morning I ran 2.6 miles in 21 min 21sec (8.2 minute miles). Is this a decent time? I know it is for basic and possibly OCS, but what times do I need to be running for Airborne and Rangers?

I would say you should strive to max out your 2 mile run for your apft...Aim for the 18-21 point range...Anything under 13minutes and your maxing at that age bracket. Some might say faster but it's a starting point.

8 minute miles is the standard for Bat. PT....However, once you get to your unit, you don't do alot of Bat PT, it's more along the lines of platoon, or squad PT....I got stuck with a squad leader that liked to run 6 minute miles, he used to burn my ass up on every run....it's had to answer this well, but strive for 7 minute miles.
