Who are you betting on?
+1 BJ is much more competitive around 155. As much as I'd like BJ to win, GSP wont be stopped.
I'm going with Penn. He's been the only guy able to nullify GSP's ground and pound which is the staple of GSP's offense.
I think this one is going to be fight of the year material and I think this one will be decided by who gets the best of the standup.
Huricanne, are you putting up the fight in the karma bookie?
Can we have a million karma limit please?
Hmmm, GSP is a respectable individual with much tallent, however that is what they all said about Tito the shit can fag! I had a good friend who played football with Tito at San Luis Obispo and said he was a real girl when it came to football. Couldn't give a good hit and got ran over when FB came out of the backfield to open up the holes. No one is unstapable. We are all ignorant just not about the same thing and this goes also with fighting. Watching the training that GSP did for this fight was interesting. He didn't have anyone in his camp that fought like Penn. Just guys he wanted to have him improve his game. Penn was a calky douch but now has learned he doesn't have much time left to make a name for himself that will truely be remembered. He has dexterity that is unique to any figther ever seen in the UFC. I would much rather see BJ or GSP vs. Anderson Silva... oh well enough of my bull shit. GSP should win but I am still going to bet on Penn.

Alright... my real analysis of the fight:
Penn is one of the best "in the pocket" boxers that I've seen in the UFC. He hangs in the pocket and uses great defense to pick off his opponents shots. He has a deceptively quick jab that does a lot of damage. In almost every fight I've seen, his opponent's faces are swollen and cut, while his looks untouched. Penn looks soft at 170 and his best weight is at 155. Penn is extremely flexible and is very good at standing back up once taken down. I wouldn't be suprised if he fakes an "standup escape" and goes for a submission hold. GSP looks very strong and has decent boxing skills. He is good with the takedown and ground and pound and has excellent stamina.
In the first fight, it appeared that Penn ran out of gas (though I thought he won the fight). Tomorrow, he comes in better shape and wears GSP out with his jab. I expect a 4th round TKO from Penn.

BJ Penn... Hawaiian represent!
2rd TKO
LOL U rawk... I know U hate Penn, and I can respect that position. Cause yeah dude does come off as way too full of himself, I understand the, get the fuck over yourself take U got on him.I'm honestly havin a hard time making up my mind. I want to put all my k on GSP, but if i put my k on Pen it will more than double lol
What HIghschool Brah?
Are you Local?
Grew up in Wahiawa and went to Punahou. Proud UH rainbow warrior.
The analyes here on both sides are outstanding. I mean no one can criticize the quality of the each post. I'm impressed. I do not know fighting as well as most of you, however, I'm reading a book by Gladwell, a genius fucking reporter, called the outliars. It is a book that well, reveals, so much of the subtle things we miss in observation. It is a book about natural genius. I really do not care who wins the fight. I'm just thrilled to see such an exhibition of 2 fighters with such physical genius, in this time that both honor their lineage based on their respective culture. I digress, sorry, anyway, it appears to me that BJ Penn, may not express himself as a genius, however, when it comes to combat, dude to me is a masterful genius. He just has an instinct that I cannot describe with words. However let me back up, and try to look at this with the wonder it deserves.
He comes from a family that owns 1/8th of Hawaii. He is the Prince of Aiea, I mean, if U had all that money, access to girls, wealth, prestige, recognition just from birthright, and yet U manage to have the will to be a fucking world jujitsu champion. If that is not a Comic Book type persona and testament to will, guts, and shattering the partial truth that wealth does handicap through lack of hunger. I'm fucking impressed. They will say well he is just talented, again words... that explain, but in reality do not.
Second when he fights, it reflects this paradoxical pattern of his identity, it does not appear that he hits overtly hard, for example in clips, it appears that GSP is a much stronger striker... what I'm noticing, again I"m a newb, is that in boxing, and striking, sometimes, due to a sinewy, relaxed, or as bruce lee would put it 'water' like motion, the hits appear not that damaging or powerful. Do You remember the fight between Meldrick Taylor and Julio Caesar Chavez. To the crowd it appeared that Meldrick was killing Julio, trading 4 to 1. However, the referee, knew better, in an interview he said, that while it didn't look like much, he could tell Chavez's punches were powerful enough to shatter bricks. While the fight may not be patterned in the same way, I believe, there are some correlations, I think GSP, is stronger, faster, and his style just looks more impressive. I will further that it correlates with his knight like persona. Which I honor and respect, to me he would be a very very valued friend. BJ's style, and his build, in my overgeneralization, reflects this hidden variable, that we cannot elucidate with words, I think he can take GSPs shots, but GSP, cannot take his. In the last fight, stand up was not a problem for Penn, but rather conditioning... more over I thought the fight was a draw.
Moreover, both represent their respective lineage, culture and homeland very well. I feel lucky just to watch this fight.
Last thing Machido over the other Brazilain.
Shoots manoots. Did you go to Iolani? WTF? I miss Rainbow Drive in hamburger steak and waiolas.
Fuck My boy is getting killed.
Its over.
GSP is the man.
Fucking Unreal.
when are you gonna learn to bet on who I bet? You know I'm surgical with the main event!
gsp is 1 ugly mofo ... dude looks like the fly lmfao!! these fights are so easy to predict .. like giveaways
U da man brah...
No joke.
My purty words pale to the truth of your vision.
Fuck he was never in the fight.
Usually rematches are similar to the first.
I wish. I love Penn, and He is still Prodigy like, but damn.
I'm glad I bet 200 on Machido.
So yeah... Ego feels the twinge of defeat.
Its funny, but these guys put their lives on the line, a testament to the wil and courage of both fighers, and the pressure of greatness riding on both of them, and I"m still in an NBA Jamz, 7th grade I got my ass kicked mood.
Great fighters, great fight. -deep breath-

Damn.
all u got to do is pick the favorited every time and they win 90% of the time.. not much science behind it ..(why the limit on ufc fights is so low on real gambling sites)
once in a while u will get an upset like forest over rampage but yea u get the idea
gotta figure out how to get more peeps to bet on the rest of the card.....thats where the unpredictibility is....i dont think anybody expected this to be so onsided.....i figured it would be a split dec. again
I would say GSP totally tooled Penn. The division is empty for GSP now. Maybe he'll be a movin' on up.
Betting by popular concensus is boring. Few of us have the skill or balls to enter an octagon ourselves so we play the fights out in our minds in an attempt to live vicariously through combatants in our imaginations.
they did lol .. all the favs won but jones .. that boy looks like he got potential and isnt boring like alot of ufc fighters..
it ok though.. its was fun and made it more enjoyable for everyone..i knew what i was getting into before i put them up, they always giveaways .. cant lose sleep ova fake money
It was over by the second round. Penn's corner was imploring him to fight rather than give him advice. Man did he look discouraged. Once Penn lost his confidence, GSP was able to land at will. This fight is a good example of why I still prefer boxing to MMA... 20 minutes of ground and pound is boring as fuck.

Man, U totally reversed my thinking... I agree.
How bout Mosley. Love him....
Just don't test him for tren.
Pacman vs Hatton Who do U like?
Thread Jack... Sorry Traz.
U were right.
However, all of us were let down, with that total domination of strength, skill, will, and BJ... I think was surprised how much GSP has evolved.
His evolution of skill I think is hidden through the guise of him just looking so much more powerful. I mean in the first fight it was not that obvious.
The second. Well its a sad night in Hawaii. Here too. -midwest-
Penn remains a Phenomenal Young Man who is world class. He has no reason to hang his head. Too be confident when U sense that U are against raw power tripling yours... is well... suicidal. That he is not.
Pen is a cocky son-of-a-bitch and he was completely dominated in every aspect of the agem, striking, ground and pound, takedows - GSP must've thrown him to the mat 7 times that fight - that will keep Pen from shouting out "I'm the best" like an arrogant prick for a couple of months.
isn't there any good 145'ers and 155'ers for Bj to fight? I didn't see the fight, how did he look at 170?.....like last time, soft?
It wont shut him up. Penn's camp is claiming that GSP was greased up with vaseline during the fight. They will probably formally protest the win.
wtf? Pen's family were the ones who stopped the fight cause they were scared he'd get so badly hurt
GSP could've beaten Pen with his hands tied behind his back in a phone booth that night....
Here are the factors at play here:
Pen looked like he was scared shitless coming into the ring - he didnt look his usual confident self
When GSP walked into the ring, he instantaneously started running - he wanted to eat Pen alive
GSP looked in excellent shape, Pen looked like shit
GSP passed Pen's guard 11 times (Pen's gaurd has only been passed once in his career in UFC before this night)
GSP takedown success was more thna 90% that night with one of the best takedown defenders in the game
GSP out-jabbed Pen, something that usually doesnt happen
GSP had an awesome game plan and he played it out till the finish
Oh yeh, and let's not forget the vicious rediculously one-sided ground and pound that made Pen look like a rag doll being tossed around
GSP, on that night, was just too strong, too fast, too good for Pen...Pen knows it, he's just not man enough to admit it....GSP should bitch slap him and tell hm to shut up before he hands him another ass whoppin

just read about this at sherdog.........there was some greasing going on, but after the 2nd round one of the inspectors came in and told them to wipe off GSP's shoulders and upper back. Doesn't look it was that much, but it could have caused Penn to have problems on his back getting hold of GSP's arms and shoulders. I dunno.........anybody have a link to the fight? supposedly GSP dominated standing, sitting, lying down, spooning.........so this probalby has little relevance.
A little grease goes a long way and I don't think a quick rub with a towel will remove it. You can scrub it with soap and water and vaseline will still take considerable effort to wipe off. I know this from my many girlfriendless years. You can see the fight at MMA Videos And News, UFC Videos, Pride Videos, K-1 Videos, And EliteXC Videos from MMATKO.com..
Penn can go for 5 rounds at 155. He seems faster to me too at 155. I think Red Samurai makes a great observation in asserting that Penn might have done better fighting GSP weighing 155. At 170 Penn often seems to gas fast.
