Monday 8/28/06

Front Squat: Bar x a lot, 135x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x3, 325x3, 335x3, 345x3

Pendlay Row: 135x10, 225x5, 285x5, 295x5, 305x5, 315x5

Jump Shrug: 225x5, 315x5, 405x5, 495x5, 525x5 (I know this wouldn't be recommended after 1 day of rest from deadlifting, but I felt like a million dollars and wanted to do them to add in some more work than last Monday....none of the sets was really hard at all)

Good night overall.

Do you deweight the rows (on the floor) w/ all that weight?

Yeah, I deweight them.....I just made an honest effort to do the true Pendlay Row....I don't necessarily think it is harder by de-weighting them and I don't think I'd be so much stronger on them if I didn't deweight, I think it is just a matter of what you're trained to do.....now, if I did the air hump tactic and turned it into a jump shrug, then that's easier, lol.

Definitely. I've always done the full deweight, and not doing it seems like it would feel uncomfortable and unnatural.

Like I've said before, 300+ on the rows stands out every time it shows up in the journal. Since PB and I are constantly bugging you about where different poundages stand in relation to your PRs, would you mind making an Official BiggT PRs post for the lifts you'll be pushing in the upcoming weeks when you get the time?

I don't find deweighting makes much of a difference either, if anything it helps me get the extra reps and keep my form tighter.. good solid workout, it's nice when everything gels and you feel like an asskicker in the gym :)

Wow... yeah those 300+ lb rows stand out like no other, lol

DAMN! That's awesome!

I deweighted for the first time last session... eh, not a fan I think i'll stick to as close to 90* as I can without deweighting next time. Are you going to revert back as well or keep deweighting?

*Chanting*

And fix us some coffee while you're at it. LoL If CS & I pester you about posting where you're at in relation to your PRs, you'll be able to thank us when you are forced to surpass them linearly each month. LoL

For the longest while now, I'd gone back to not deweighting the rows, and last workout, I deweighted them again and honestly, it felt quite a bit better. My form was tighter, I didn't slop as much, and it was easier on my lower back. I also felt I got a stronger lat pull on each rep. I'm definitely back to the full deweighted row. On a side note, a workout of OHP + front sq. + rows = awesome. I'm thinking of trying back squat + bench + deads on day 1 & 3 and the aforementioned on Day 2.

Didn't log the last 2 workouts on here and I just realized it, lol.....I trained Tuesday (8/29) and Wed (8/30).

Tues. 8/29

Flat Bench: 135x8, 225x8, 300x8, 350x1, 405x1, 405x1, 405x1

Strict Standing Press: 135x10, 185x5, 205x5, 215x5-4-4, 200x8

Dips: BW plus 45lb plate x 3 sets of 12, will use 2 plates next week

Triceps Pushdown: stack (don't know how much as paint is faded on it) x 3 sets of 15, useless waste of time that i wouldn't recommend to anybody, but some wikked pumpz, lol, and I had to kill a little time before picking my car up at the shop.

Wednesday 8/30

Back Squat: 135x10, 225x10, 315x5, 350x 4 sets of 5 (stuck to 85% of heavy day's weight for 5s), 405x1 (could have gotten air), 455x1 (EASY), 495x1 (grinder at the end of all this, but I wanted to take 5 plates for a ride, and I think I left an ass-print on the floor with this too, so I was happy)

Chins: BWx 10-10-10

Calves: 3 sets of some gay standing machine, they actually are looking much better after working them out this week and last.

weighed between 254-255 at the end (scale kept shifting)

lol, not for some time i'm sure... coz T doesn't have a video cam. we gotta start bugging him enough to buy one or just get him one on his b'day. :coffee:

I'm in - you can pick one up on Ebay for next to nothing. It would be worth it to see these heavy ass rows done properly.
