My x used to have a g/f (yeah ) that worked at the local hooters, so we'd go up there to see her everyonce in a while and there was a fool that hardly ever left - even swept the floors and shit even tho he didn work there. I used to ask why the hell they let him - like if he got hurt or some shit he'd prolly sue them.

IMO ......

Waitstaff people are fun, but they work for tips. So being friendly is their style. They want your money. And that is fine ... the American way.

It is tough for them to sort out people they'd really like to know from customers. So I wouldn't take it personally. Seems she is caught in the middle and needs some event to happen to push her to one side or the other. By that time, you will have moved on.
