When someone you care about is hurt a mature individual doesn't find it funny, they try to help, or certainly at least not make it worse. That collar isn't a joke, it's helping with the pain she's in and maybe keeping her from doing further damage to her cervical spine.

I thought you were in your 30s, laughing at something like that is something a 12 year old would do. You hurt her body and on top of that she probably feels like you're mocking her pain, so you've hurt her emotions, too.
