had surgery yesterday, june 9th,2008. All went well, was in much pain since it happened until now. Again, it was a left tricep muscle/tendon tear. Any EF's bros who have had this injury or specifically know of anyone who has been through this, please share your knowledge with me. I know Dorian Yates had this injury but i doubt if he would chime in on this thread. I want to thank everyone here at EF who has been supportive, it does go recognized and helps me out more than you would think! Hope to post better pics in 2009 for you guys next season! We do have the technology to rebuild him!!!!

Melvin Anthony and Kevin Levrone tore their Triceps

And have had no issues since:) and also no visible muscle damage:)

so your good to go

Yea ive heard about this from Itailian Muscle, I hope that you get better bro, Truely am sorry to hear this happen so close to comp. rest and get well bro.

Just curious. What movement were you doing? Nose crunches or something?
 
i knew somebody that had that injury. i cant remember exactly how long the recovery was but it was fairly quick....considering.

ever since i witnessed it i no longer lock out completely on presses of any kind and i always use rope extensions first for tri's before heading to the heavy compound stuff.

will keep that in mind. my warmups will now take more of my time than my actual training.
 
Will get back in gym on monday and start training things like abs, calves, leg extensioins....etc. Will get back to cleaning the diet up also! Feel like crap with one week of eating whatever i want.

Enjoy it while you can,,take it easy when you get back in their G, take care of yourself
 
the cast is off, not as much atrophy as i expected, still a long way to go. No range of motion yet, they say it will slowy come. The scar is pleasant looking. Mentally going crazy not being able to do what i do.

it gets bad fast. my first show i didn't know what would happen after prolonged bad eating. by 10 days i was over 30lbs heavier and had swollen kankles:(

gautho bro look into doing some kettlebell work as ancillary lifting to stregthen your elbows and joints.
I do kettlebells 2x a week and my joints have held up extremely well with all this prep and hard work

Well i was 3 weeks out at the time, i usually drop the poundage that close to contest day. It was sort of still my warm up phase. I had planned on going 60's, 70's, 80's, and finish with 90's. That poundage is reasonable for a middleweight at 3 weeks out. It was definitely from prolonged abuse and being so dry , so far out. ?????freak incident.......wasn't in the cards this year??

Wulfgar, please do pm more about this when you get a chance. The scar from the surgery looks amazingly pleasing and the reattachment site looks similar to what the Gods have previously given me. I just need to properly rehab it and get after it when the time is right. I've spoken to Branch Warren via email about it, he had the same surgery and injury, and 18 months later he earned his pro card. Thats why Branch has my most respect and admiration as a BB'er.

I posted some pics of my torn tricep at that time...see them in the pictures of members section. By the way, the healing process is going really well.
 
Do you think this was a freak accident, or possible genetics? Being that muscle tears are so random I could never really get the science down behind them and what exactly causes them.

I think its repetitive damage/strain brought on by pushing pass genetic potentials via performance enhancing products.
 
Best of luck to you bro. Sounds like just a little kink in your life. You sound pretty dedicated to bodybuilding and should heal close to 100% from what I have heard from people at the gym having the same issues.
 
Seems like a strange tear for military press. Thats not even a tricep exercise.

Did you tear it getting them up or something?

I can't explain it bro,,,,just a freaky thing. I been training with elbow pain for years...thats why i would wear elbow sleeves when training. It was just constant repetitive type of thing from training intense over the long haul. I heard Branch Warren just tore his and he is out of the Olympia???
 
On a different note......I just got my ass kicked by Hurricane Gustave...another setback to deal with. I took the eye of it. Lost alot of material things but still have my health.
 
I have had my share which is why I had to create a new training platform

tired of years of mistakes and then recovery

each time I get injured I get VERY fat, and last time was the LAST TIME...........
