First of all what u term socialism , communism capitalism and monetarism were all developed by British people (and two Germans as it happens). Socialism has worked pretty well in France from what I can see , and not too bad in Sweden and Norway either. Do u think that modern capitalistic Russia is any less corrupt than before? Communism is little more than a dream , it is not realistic , at least not in the long term.
You're a young guy Frackal , you've much to learn. Much of what led to the rise of the U.S. was luck and opportunism , Russia could just as easily have filled the vacuum as the U.S. , they had just gutted themselves against the Germans (see numerous threads here regarding the relative size of the Russian war effort). And what of Britain , a once proud nation reduced to lap-dog status. The world needs balance , America is/has behaved as a bully has , even some of my most pro-American friends feel that way , the U.N. for example is essentially a U.N. dictat (example: removal of Peres De Cuela over his opposition to Amercian imperialism and imposition of Kofi Annan). and even they werent goin to fall over and pay for a war entirely in the U.S. interest. I suggest to you that the lives of many Iraqis were needlessly taken from them (and without due cause) in this U.S. show of "justice" and "freedom".
I'm 1/2 awake so I wont' address this fully but a few points:
- All countries are going to put their own needs first, do you think Germany was opposing the United States for 'moral' reasons or selfish reasons? Look, France and Germany supported this repressive regime now because it served your interests currently...we supported them in the past for the same reason...every country in the world is guilty of that, because it's simply human nature.
But I'm talking about macro issues, not micro offenses... Who but America has played a larger role in fighting the totalitarianistic movements of the 20th century? Germany, Russia, Japan, China... Certainly America rising as the victor in those bloody idealogical struggles has bettered the world over?
What if Germany's facism or Russia's communism had prevailed?
In the last Century, of all the movements that had arisen, aren't YOU personally thankful that America prevailed?
