Because it's played out and yesterday's trend. They didn't completely depart from it though. It's instantly recognizable as a Mustang, the proportions and key design elements are all there.

Modern and sleek is in. I don't think they went far enough with it though.

Although Ford acknowledges that the vast majority of sales will be Domestic, there is a good amount of American muscle fans across the pond.
