For Those Of Ya'll that Use the Evil Drug Cocaine...

I'm not a smoker and have no problem with tobacco being legal. It's the fact that our govt. determines that some drugs while potentially harmful are legal and others with the same or less risk factors are not. It's bullshit.

i often say the same thing. although my view is that this inequality should be adressed by tightening restrictions across the board rather than loosening them.

it was actually proposed in australia that cigarettes only be sold at pharmacies. id love it if it went through so i could get to know all my customers so that they came to me to buy all their meds later in life

So, you are saying that acute toxicities occur more often with nicotine than say cocaine, heroin, or methampetamine? I don't think so.

Toxicologically (in terms of route of administration), cigarettes are very safe. No one dies of cigarettes after only a few puffs, it takes years before damage occurs. You could liken cigarette dangers to that of eating Big Mac's everyday.

No way. Tobacco in cigarettes is not just tobacco someone dried, cut up, and put in cigs. It is a mass of plant matter, sprayed with a multitude of chemicals, nicotine, and potential addiction causing/raising materials.

1 cigarette is much worse for you than the average MJ joint, regardless of what the propaganda machine would have you believe. You're doing damage to your lungs the first time and the last time you smoke tobacco.

you know, atlantabiolab, as per the above response and the other thread in which you participated (ireland as a country ready to ban smoking in public or similar) you seem to be a tad out of touch with reality, and ready to jump down anyones throat who doesnt like smoking

you wouldnt happen to be a smoker, would you?

Nice try, but no, I have never smoked in my life (tried it, never liked it), nor drink.

Good attempts at ad hominem attacks, Mick.

Never stated that it did not cause "any" damage, simply that it is not acutely toxic. No one dies very quickly after starting smoking; it takes decades.

It's toxicity can be equated to other unhealthy shitty lifestyles.

In terms of drugs...

The greatest preventable cause of death in the world, second to none? Tobacco use. The greatest financial burden on society of any drug second to none? Tobacco. The most powerful cartel, in terms of governmental influence and sheer economic clout? Tobacco, by far.

You want to start a war on drugs? pick the most dangerous one first or shove your double standard reeking "we are protecting society from the evil of drugs" rantings up your misinformed, knee jerk reactionary ass.

I am here until thursday, try the veal.

Tobacco is not the burden on society, the idea of semi socialized healthcare is the burden. Society has not rights or expectations, individuals do. And right now, individuals are getting screwed by others' bad decisions.

Let smokers bear the cost of their own actions, not other people.

That's the problem!!

The most powerful "cartel", if by cartel you mean lobbying interest, is not tobacco. They don't even make the top 5 in the US.

The #1 lobbying interest by a mile is the pharamceutical industry, and that is what prolongs the war on drugs. The pharamceutical industry spends more on lobbying than defense and labor unions, which are #2 and #3, combined. Pharma wants you on drugs: theirs.

Tobacco has some cloutbn veause they pay a great deal in excise taxes, however, as a lobbying interest they are relatively insignificant.

I'm more of a seafood guy myself. You can keep the veal.

I have so many people that I loved wrapped in the arms of that fucking drug. I just to use it from 16 to 21 years old. I got out of it and I ve seen what it those to people, many of the are even smoking rock;and this are people of respect but all of that its changing and I can see it but sadly they can't. And I can't do anything about it. It makes me so fucking mad.

Disipline and balls, that is what is all about.

legalize drugs, let each individual make a informed decision with respect to usage and accept the consequences of their actions. it would eliminate the insane number of minor drug convictions and drug inspired felonies; ultimately this would remedy prison overcrowding.

Yup, it's a slap in the face of the Founding Fathers, especially Benjamin Franklin. I can only imagine if they were still alive to offer their opinions, they'd probably bust out the AK's and launch a coup :D

I am willing to bet that we already have a SHITLOAD more government than any of the founders intended

I'm afraid that this war on "terrorism" will be more like a McCarthy witch hunt, than a war on drugs.

Just don't piss off your neighbors, because the next thing you'll know BICE and the FBI will be knocking on your door.
back in my roaring twenties in the 80s me and two friends "the 3 mosquitos" were recovering from a 3 day coke and alcohol binge..Tim aka "the rat" was high on dilaudid that day when the FBI came knocking on the door..well we were fresh out of drugs so we let the agent in...Tim handled it cool (the average person can't tell when a junkie is high)as the agent interviewd him..turns out the agent was interviewing the neighbors of a girl who had appllied to the FBI..we gave her some good reviews and then settled in to watch "scarface" yet again
