I've tried to go plat 50 times at least, but the form will not accept my username, I guess with only 40 -50 posts I could just re-register.

Either that or try to fill out a support ticket and let them know that you want to go plat but it will not allow your user name.
With only 40-50 posts it is not that bad of an idea to start anew.
