For those of us who worry about this kind of issue in 10-15 years, what advice is there to avoid it?

Pre-nuptial?
Good communication on what to do in case the relationship fails
Try to find a partner that isn't malicious to her Exs?

I'm in the dark here.

Communicate. I actually got divorced before my stubborn ass talked to my wife and really listened. We ended up working everything out and have gotten back together.

I dont' get it??? How can an attorney charge 100,000 for a divorce case in fees...I hope you were breaking up a few million and couldn't do it on your own....that seems high? any others want to submit their bills? I really don't know, but am curious.

Thanks Bro, She kept me in court on stupid issues like, custody , alimony, child support, restraining orders, contempt of court, more more more more this has been going on for 2 years and 3 months. So go get married have 5 or 6 kids let your wife stay home and eat bon bons all day get her a maid and hire someone to do the lawn because your ass will be working to pay for it all......... J I was married for 11 years and we had some good times because I am reminded of those good times every month when I send the child support for my 2 children,,
While shes living high on alimony, Im working 2 shifts eating BOLOGNA...hahah Im glad I can laugh

It is common knowledge that I didnt fight but gave my ex near EVERYTHING due me under the law in order to procure my divorce.

it was his play on words that was funny. I cracked up laughing too. nobody is laughing that you didn't get any money from your divorce.

When the wifey and I split, she ran my cards up to the limit and opened a few more. I gave half my 401K and all kinds of other shit. The part that really sucked was that she got the full half of the account, not what it was after taxes and penalties. Oh well, live and learn. It's only money I guess.

Lessons learned from this thread.

1) Don't get married

2) Definitely Don't have Kids

3) If you get divorced, have your teeth, hair and everything else fixed before you file.

4) Spend every last cent at a strip club before the gavel comes down.

Go on welfare, file for chapter 11 and basically she'll kiss child support goodbye.

It will still build up and you'll have to pay back child support plus penalties. Any jobs you get will have the wages garnished, and there will be judgments filed against you.
