Fast Food Nation

Fast Food Nation is a good read. It definately gives an eerie insight to the hollow conscious of corporate jugernauts like McD's and Karl Jr.

I enjoyed the historical basis of how the Fast Food industry came to be. It was news to me.

It is a sad epitaph that in a capital driven economy we blindly choose to poison our citizens.

How do you know the book is even accurate

As I mentioned before on threads past:

Because about 1/3 of the book's volume is his references. Further to date he has not been sued or recieved any letters from any lawyers. Considering the past experiences with McDonald's and their willingness to sue at the drop of a hat (even children), I'd suspect that the abscence of litigation would speak to indicate the truthful nature of the book and it's findings.

Don't you think McDonald's WOULD have sued if it were in any way false? Being true, they certainly would NOT want the info and subsequent investigation of the statements in the book to hit a national courtroom (which would be a media circus).

This guy covered his ass with his facts and figures. It shows not only in this work, but also Schlosser's past publications as well.

Smart, and informed man!

This country is one big hypocrytical mess. Most people aren't even aware of the problems, and for those who are, only a minute percentage actually try to do something about them.

I am going to have to read the book now to see what is the big deal.
Are people objecting to the way large corporations are running their businesses?
Lots of companies target children in their advertising. Last time I checked, kids didn't have much money so it is still the parents decision.
I just don't see how pointing the finger at large corporations for the way they run their businesses does any good.
WE made Mcd's and all the other fast food companies the huge successes they are today, but now we should point our collective fingers at them in blame?
Cultural Imperialism is an interesting term. Are all the fast food joints abroad going broke?
Seems it isn't just fat, stupid Americans that like tasty, cheap food.
I don't eat fast food except for the occasional Taco Bell for the simple fact that it makes me sick every single time I eat it.
Tastes good, Makes me sick. That is a no brainer.
I am going to read the book just to see what exactly is really going on in this country though.
