Edit: I stand corrected. The European Union and Canada are currently using "Controlled Atmosphere Killing" in which the chickens lose consciousness and die from breathing a combination nitrogen/argon with less than 2% oxygen while in their transport containers before they reach the slaughterhouse.

I had thought of switching to Kosher meats myself there for awhile.

I never did because I thought it was redic. amount of money to spend when I'm not Jewish.

Its a nice thought ; but I have other priorities right now.

I wasn't belittling anyone's opinion on it. What I started doing was posting right back to those who were insulting me. If you go back to the first page, you will see that all I do is post a link to the Foie Gras page and tell people to check that out and then make their decision. The people who were sitting and constantly insulting me, degrading my efforts, etc, I insulted back - sure maybe I shouldn't do that but whatever...

Well you can do with your family whatever you choose to do.. I am going to try to raise my kids as vegetarians.. those people are healthier anyway...

I did read, and there were countless insults on the human race... and last I checked I am human.

Like I said, its your cause... you do as you wish and high five to you for doing so. Just remember that everything in our daily life revolves around this chain.

I watched the video... and it was really horrid, but if I were to sit here and examine every item I wear, eat, drink... I am sure I would find that there are many other animals that are going thru the same torture. I personally don't choose to quit eating meat, or produce... etc. I don't chose to quit using soap, or feeding my dog, dog food... There are certain products that say they aren't tested on animals... but come on... I don't believe that shit at all. Its all marketing.

I don't frown upon what you are doing... go for it. Raise your children to be vegetarians, thats fine. Then also turn around and inspect exactly what chemicals are used on those farms.

Point being... if you are not doing it yourself... then you don't know how the hell you got the egg and what suffereing that chicken went thru... the cow... the fish... etc. And still... suffering is suffering... death is death.

not to mention the calves that are in the farms... check into all that. Dairy farms are just as bad!

This argument is tough. Human populations are soaring and people need to eat - raising animals for the sole purpose of being eaten is the only way I can think of to feed everyone. You start making people kill their own food and every damn animal would be eliminated. Plus, if the animal is being raised for food - you can't gas it or drug it, it messes up the food.

I do know that in life ; one thing usually must suffer to benefit the othe especially when you are talking survival.

And I dont think that type of eating is healthy for children at all!

I grew up in the country and we had a chicken coop. I remember a many a saturday where we had to go pull heads of chickens for dinner next week. Dang things would bounce around for 1 minute without a head.

Now that was cruel - but it kept food on the table.

shit....i feel stupid. i thought alot of places gassed them now because i remember this was this big debate of KFC and the chickens they get. They mentioned the fact alot of chicken distributors were gassing their birds. maybe it was electricution (I know they do this to make them unconcious)
They were having the beaks seared off with hot blades first.....terrible.

bleh.... not the stuff i want to think about on a friday, right before im about to eat a chicke breast lol
