Don't like benching because my earphones always fall out

Would I be at a disadvantage if I were to skip the bench press and only do dips and overhead press?

I don't compete or plan to. Just in it for the strength. Is bench press that important for overall press strength? Or would some overhead press and possibly some incline dumbells be a good sub?

get the "in the ear headphones" like the ones that come with sony erricson phones, they are shaped to go all the way into your ear and mine never fall out

besides, if its just for the sake of your earphones not being good enough, and not that you dislike it why dont u jus buy decent ear phones that dont fall out

if all you realy care about is strength... bench is not at all the best exersise...
i do PL so i have to bench (and it is definately my weak point)... but if i didnt compete i would not waste my energy on it...
if i were you i would stick with weighted dips, military press, clean and jerks etc...
...and i know there are quite a few others here that feel the same way...
...now if you are training for looks... ...that is a completely different game... but you said strength, so that is what im coming from...

edit:
dips are considered squats for the upper body... keeping that in mind, remember what is the best way to strengthen your lower body......

Yeah I agree with moya, you can do pretty well with overhead press, inclined dumbells, dips, I would also through in some pullovers, not for pressing strength sake but because I find on them a good way to stimulate pecs and back.

I knew you throw in the earphones thing to the thread's title for extra attention, but truth is I'll always think of inclined press and dips as superiors to bench press.

lol... i would have said pullovers as well, but his excuse was the earphones falling out... but yeah, pullovers are badass...

As much as I personally hate the bench..... It will add slabs of mass to your upper body and build great pressing power. Don't skip the bench imo.

I remember reading that the bench press is an inferior exercise to the standing press and incline press in terms of real world strength. The argument was that nobody really pushes anything from standing straight up...usually you're always leaning forward and using leg drive which would be impossible from standing straight up. I personally love the bench though, even though it is my weakest lift too.
