Does Racism Still Exist Today In America?

rick star

New member
I pose this question to everyone.

Does racism still exist in the 21st century? It was only a little over 150 years
ago, that Africans were being enslaved by the white man. Does hatred for the white man by African Americans still exist? Do white folks think African Americans should stop blaming them for what their great great great grandparents did over 150 years ago? Do blacks think they are owed something for the slavery that their great great great granparents had to endure?

My thoughts. When I was growing up in the 50's ( I am White), I went to a grammar school with mostly black children. A lot of my friends were black and
I didn't think anything about it. I wanted to invite one of my friends over (he as black) to play. My father being from Arkansas, said NO! He said he didn't want me playing with my black friends. No reason...just NO! I never forgot that day and I really didn't understand why I couldn't play with my friend other than he was black. The gauntlet of racism was layed down before me.
Today, I don't think I am a racist at all. I am somewhat of a biggot. Especially when someone feels that I owe them something because of some
circumstances that occurred 200 years ago. Somethings in life are true. For example: If you see a car in front of you on the road, and the car is a late lincoln or olds or pontiac, that is in mint condition, and the chassis has been
lowered, and their is rose thorn type design around the back license plate,
and the steeng wheel is made out of chrome and very small, the chances of the driver being a male latino with a mustache is 99.9% I have yet to be wrong. Black folk like chicken and cajun type of foods, chinese drivers will be in the fast lane on the freeway going 45 miles per hour with their left signal indicator light on. White folk from the deep south never go to dentists, and swear that they have seen a UFO swoop down and snatch Granny.

I'm done for now! Any comments or observations?

American Indians ever invented the wheel. They still pull their belongings and people around on a flat surfaced mat. Don't tell me greed isn't driving the motivation behind Indian Casinos. If they really wanted to help their people,
they would open Hospitals and Schools with Government subsidized lands and
money. The almighty dollar rules this country and it's people.

I'm out for now!

fuck off

To what extent does it exist. To say it is dumb, is dumb in itself. Are you a racist? A biggot?

You like pancakes? With or without butter? Sausage on the side?

It is still prevalent in every aspect of society. Always will be until people stop seeing the colour before the person.

I'd say that it is stronger than most think... or admit to. Hell, my town is still 100% white, as is all the other towns around me. Nothing i'm too proud of, but that's life I guess. Even with time, I don't think that it will ever go away.

Sure it is...just look at some of the quotes in my signature.

It's bigot, dumbass.

Slavery still exists in Africa.

Besides, people. There is no such thing as racism. There are no Australopithecus or Cro-Magnum people running around to hate. All the other homonids no longer exist.

Yeah. But it exists because we keep bringing it up. A hundred years ago there was alot of anti-semitism, anti-irish and anti-italian sentiments in the US. Nowadays however those are mostly gone. They are gone because we don't really think about them and because we just let them go. Sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to forget about it.

By trying to 'solve' the race problem you are creating it by agknowledging that there is a problem. Nobody tries to 'solve' the racial issues between the Irish and the anglo saxons because it doesn't exist anymore. If that makes sense.

There was a sociologist who wrote on this theory once, that trying to 'solve' the race problem (on all parts, white and black people) was the main reason it exists in the first place. I forget his name and his book though, just that he got into an argument with Shaun Hannity.

Yes, but it's changed it's form and is now known as ignorance.

I need to shake his hand one day.

The other day, a puerto rican woman who is a key holder/manager type person at my job told an associate that we need more spanish workers because they are better workers. She bit her tongue then proeceeded to give our boss an ear full regarding the comment. What was done? Nothing so far. If I were to say that white people were better workers, I'm sure I would have been fired that day. mojados

Of course it does. There will always be ignorant people. What is racism? Disliking people based solely on the color of their skin? That is what I think of when I think of racism. Disliking other people's cultural ways is a totally different thing.

You make some good points, but, there is one key ingredient you left out of the equation, Jews are white, Irish folks are white, Italians are white. African-Americans are black and makes it a different ball game. Like I said, I am not a racist, but a biggot. I am a biggot against greedy oil companies jacking up prices because they can....water companies in Louisiana charging double and triple the cost of water because they can I am a biggot against doing the wrong thing as opposed to doing the right thing( Kinda a stupid comment but you get the picture)

This post reeks of racism, and the sad part is you seem unaware of it. This attitude is the product of generations of ignorance.

I'm white btw.

Reverse Racism is more of a factor today because people are too scared to affend a minority, but they don't give a shit about joking about the minority group. That is what I hate. I mean how racist can you be to scream "racism" at a white person for something small, but a minority can get away with so much just because people are scared they will file a suit against them.

Indeed.

Be prepared to be called a racist.

Although, I dont like the term "reverse racism." Racism is racism, no matter who offends who.

Technically yes, but not lurking around ever corner of society like some people think it is.

It was only a little over 150 years
ago, that Africans were being enslaved by the white man. Does hatred for the white man by African Americans still exist?
Yes it does and is proven on almost a daily basis with white jokes and racist talk on tv, movies, etc. Whites aren't allowed to even come close to racist talk but blacks are encouraged to do so.

Do white folks think African Americans should stop blaming them for what their great great great grandparents did over 150 years ago?
Yes, I don't agree with what was done and it was wrong, but I had not one ounce of control over it so don't blame me.

Do blacks think they are owed something for the slavery that their great great great granparents had to endure?
Yes and it makes me sick. Making money or profiting in someway for what happened is pathetic. In that case, I am going to sue england for what they did to my irish ancestors.

One other view on this. African americans are those that were born in africa and moved to the usa and became citizens. Blacks are American just as this white boy is American.

This is my way of thinking as well.

Skin color, hair color, eye color, fur color... I believe in the human race.

HHHHHARVARD TOUCHDOWN!!!! THEY'RE BACK IN THE GAME!!!!!!

Sorry... anyway, I can see the ethnic differences... but prejudice based solely on skin color? I just have to laugh at that. Another reason I prefer to hang out with more intelligent, higher class people.

Anthrax and Public enemy bridged the gap and destroyed it

Bass! How low can you go?
Death row what a brother knows
Once again, back is the incredible
The rhyme animal
The incredible D. Public Enemy number one
Five-O said "Freeze!" and I got numb
Can't I tell 'em that I really never had a gun?
But it's the wax that the Terminator X spun
Now they got me in a cell 'cause my records they sell
'Cause a brother like me said "Well
Farrakhan's a prophet and I think you ought to listen to
What he can say to you, what you ought to do"
Follow for now, power to the people say,
"Make a miracle. D, pump the lyrical"
Black is back, all in, we're gonna win
Check it out, yeah y'all, here we go again

Chorus
Turn it up! Bring tha noize!

Never badder than bad 'cause the brother is madder than mad
At the fact that's corrupt as a senator
Soul on a roll, but you treat it like soap on a rope
'Cause the beats in the lines are so dope
Listen for lessons I'm saying inside music
that the critics are blasting me for
They'll never care for the brothers and sisters
now across the country has us up for the war

We got to demonstrate, come on now, they're gonna have to wait
Till we get it right
Radio Stations I question their blackness
They call themselves black, but we'll see if they play this

Chorus

Get from in front of me, the crowd runs to me
My deejay is warm, he's X, I call him Norm, ya know
He can cut a record from side to side
So what, the ride, the glide
should be much safer than a suicide
Soul control, beat is the father of your rock'n'roll
Music for whatcha, for whichin', you call a band, man
Makin' a music, abuse it, but you can't do it, ya know
You call 'em demos, but we ride limos, too
Whatcha gonna do? Rap is not afraid of you
Beat is for Sonny Bono, beat is for Yoko Ono
Run DMC first said a deejay could be a band
Stand on its feet, get you out your seat
Beat is for Eric B, and L.L. as well, hell
Wax is for Anthrax, still it can rock bells
Ever forever, universal, it will sell
Time for me to exit, Terminator X-it

Chorus

From coast to coast, so you stop being like a comatose
'Stand, my man? The beat's the same with a boast dose
Rock with some pizzazz, it will last why you ask?
Roll with the rock stars, still never get accepted as
We got to pleed the fifth, we can investigate
Don't need to wait, get the record straight
Hey, posse's in effect, got the Flavor Terminator
X to sign checks, play to get paid
We got to check it out down on the avenue
A magazine or two is dissing me and dissing you
Yeah, I'm telling you

Fuck the Po'

Verse 1 (Enigmatic)
There are some thugs in the street that you just can't escape
Hate is what fuels them and aggression's their dominant trait
And I take issue with the way they just throw you down and twist you
Double-fist you and smack you with pistols pointed at heads like Cuban missiles
In their attempts to try and protect and serve the masses,
They always manage to physically harass us, take away our rights like a fascist,
And say it's in the name of the law when they blast us
In this day and age a young successful black man like me should be smilin'
But it's hard when you're a daily victim of racial profilin'
I won't take out my frustration like New York cops though
With forty-some odd shots, wildin' out like it's a gun show
I'll just glow with a flow that glows and blazes
Hotter than the guns of the po-po and float away on this lyrical rowboat
Forget the police, because I'm really not feelin' them,
Shit, they should arrest 108 Tongues, because we're killin' it

Verse 2 (Grandmaster)
Man, I was home in Delaware at homecomin'
Thrillin' to be chillin' with my boys, but yo, something,
It had to occur, a situation ensued
Some bitch with a badge said I was actin' rude
Simply 'cos I walked around her and looked at her, dude
She was callin' me out like Super Size Me with fast food
Her mood was uncouth, and dude, it's uncool
'Cos this place, it used to be my high school
When did I go from student to bein' viewed
As a suspect liable for breakin' the rules?
Now, I do have some friends who serve on police rosters
And I give 'em their props, 'cos their mommas raised 'em proper
But I have major beef with how the rest of the cops are
'Cos they say that they serve justice, but they're only imposters
I see them walk around, thinkin' that they're all amazing
They're messing with the best of the blacks, hispanics, and asians...

Verse 3 (MC Plátano)
As these law enforcement agents rage with force to stop assailants
The youth of our country suffers under constant cop surveillance
Ignorant to the prevalent oppressed experience, this shit is relevant
The precincts, yo, they'd best be hearin' this
Yo, I'm walkin' down the street with my hoodie and my headphones
These racist cops is tryin' to see a young Latino dead, homes
And justice is what the fuck they call it
How they gon' kill a Haitian immigrant for pullin' out his wallet?
Yo, I got some melanin, I'm stuck with it, yo
I got a Spanish name, so I'd best not fuck with tha po
The Five-O, when they catch sight, they're bound to frisk me
If you're brown, walkin' 'round town, that's what the risks be
Always assumin' that we pushin' some illegal drugs
My jeans sag, so they gon' label me a thug
Scared of rich kids gettin' mugged at two in the morn
While the real kids are wearin' blue uniforms
Each year, millions of minorities face prison
Simply due to certain white authorities' racism
I ain't with them; If they can call a black man a dealer,
I'ma turn around and say the NYPD is a killer
They still judge facially and profile racially
In this day and age, this is where y'all say the current state should be?
Fuck that, this violence goes on with no peace
Exercise our freedom of speech, and say, Fuck tha Police

Verse 4 (Citizen Q)
Despite the fact that I'm white, the cops assume I incite
Acts of violence in the silence in the heat of the night
'Cause when the beat is just right, I get a little less polite,
and entertain you with my cranium or punch out your lights
Even after 9-11, with the heroes in heaven,
I don't respect an institution solving problems with weapons
Using the second amendment to justify their aggression
Clandestine oppression of life's most beautiful blessings
America the Great is becoming a police state
Where Jake can dictate your fate and your faith
the illusion of authority is fake, the majority made a mistake,
So now I can't catch a break? 'Cause the crotch of my pants hangs low
And bitches rub my crotch through my pants with their hands real slow
I smoke a little indo behind tinted windows
And wait to show the po-po what's hidden in my polo...

:cow:

to the black people here....

Are you "black" or "African American"? I dont mean by the U.S.'s bubbles that you fill in on the Census either. When you tell your aqaintences, do you tell them you are black or African-American?

I mean, are you African at all really? Do you claim that as a home country? Do you want the rights of an African? I doubt they would treat you with the same rights you get here in the U.S. Sure, times have sucked for you guys. I'll admit that. BUT, have you had a hard time? PRobably not (even though there are exceptions). Today, black people have little to complain about. Everything govermnet related is completely more voluntary to them.

Oh, and these lawsuits about restitution from the slavery days make me absolutely sick!!!!!!!!

Slavery also still exists in Asia. If anyone is wearing anything made in Vietnam, Burma, Thailand or Cambodia it's guaranteed to have come from some nasty sweat house factory. I've seen the conditions these people work in and I know the pittance they get payed prevents them from doing anything else for the rest of their lives effectively enslaving whole families to their mindless jobs. They make some nice running shoes though.
