Does Marijuana ruin lives and entire societies?

totally. i've smoked 2 or times today. after each time, i scrubbed my entire body for 1 hour (sandpaper) and then went to kill a (brown) neighbor.

lestat, lol at giving plunkey a thread to voice his opinions.

LOL
Too bad about Golden... I wondered where he went as well...

Actually had some truculence in approaching this thread cause smoking out occasionally, is not something that I really dig on. We all have things we dig about ourselves, and yeah, thats not really on my list. That said, I've only got two more hours before I get to go home, and perusing through this bad boy has been informative and entertaining... quality thread.

This thead has inspired me! I'm gonna blaze on today in its honor! :rasta:

i personally dont think weed is any worse then ciggs or booze for us health wise, maybe less hazardous .. but it made me lazy and paraniod ...im glad i kicked the habit years ago

This one is for Mrplunkey. I am interested in evidence that Marijuana ruins people's individual lives as well as entire societies.

From what I have read (granted I'm on the pro marijuana side) I don't see evidence that it causes the aformentioned issues with individuals and society.

On the contrary, its actually legal here in California for many uses, which are documented, and have been studied.

I still view it more or less as a recreational drug, but one of the more mild and benign ones. I've seen it do a lot more good for people than not.

Someone mentioned something about economic viability, which I find to be the most unsupported claim because it is used by many, and personally I know 3 people with over 1 million in net worth that are marijuana users. (and I don't know that many millionaires). I don't cite this as hard proof of anything, just as an example of what I've seen in my experience.

I generally don't hang out with a lot of hardcore drug users, so I haven't seen a lot of detrimental effects from marijauna (but I have from other drugs, including alcohol).

No but it would ruin corporate environments. And those are the people who run the country. Elitists. So, as I said 10 million times again, it won't be legal cuz of that.

Alcohol causes 10000x more carnage and destruction than marij. But it's legal because it isn't a problem in corporate america. Very easy to identify by bosses.

Remember who owns this country. Including you 40 hours a week.

You are really stretching and rationalizing there. No one smoked more weed than my mom, and I can assure you that it didn't sharpen her creative or cognitive functioning in any way. that is such a myth. Hate to tell you, but getting high leads to as much irresponsible behavior (unprotected sex, etc) as drinking does. It is a financial drain on families. It causes cancer, just as smoking does (please don't give the tired old argument that there is no study proving it yet). As far as easing nerves and tension, it sure didn't ease my tension as a child watching my mom get high and performing all of her antics. The year before she died of cancer, she got this wild notion while she was high that she was going to start a hair salon in her house. So, she ripped all the carpet out of her house, took it outside and started a big ole bonfire with it. That is the sort of stuff she would do. So, when you visited her house then, you were walking around on sub-floor. Potheads are nutty.

You are so utterly wrong on so many levels it's sickening. All of your OPINIONS are completely unfounded and baseless. There are thousands of scientific reports showing not only the medicinal properties of it, it also showed that contrary to what big brother tells you, is not nearly as harmful on the brain as they want you to believe.

Instead of bringing emotions into an intelligent debate like most women do, try using logic and intelligent discourse.

I don't care that you're a lawyer. Actually it's saddening that a lawyer who is supposed to be all about the truth actually spouts such baseless information as you have

when i first smoked i used to get super paranoid too!

The laziness depends on the strain of weed for me, some stuff is good for an 'UP' sorta high, others is good for the 'melt into the couch' kinda hight.

Bro, I do tend to agree with your high level points, but I don't like seeing anyone insulted for their opinion. heather has some personal experience with weed (and its not good) she's never said it applies equally to everyone, but for her the effects were disastrous.

Its funny because I read your post and could see myself typing it nearly word for word! I'm starting to realize that the message comes across better when the tone is softer.

yes weed is a gateway drug. all the people I know who hard into the drug scene started out with weed.

lets smoke while in HS, then the shrooms at concerts. coke and before you know it was meth.

weed is a gateway drug as you want to experience other highs.

everyone I know who smokes a ton of weed (the smart ones now  ) just guys with a degree from some public school with some boring 36k a yr job.

Wrong and completely baseless also. How can you people honestly state personal experiences as fact? Do you not know how to properly debate?

It has been proven time and time again to be false.

My first drug was acid and I never really cared to weed as a kid.
