well as far as the addiction goes, its just as "addictive" as say using the internet, or sweets. It can be powerful in that regard (psychological) but it doesn't come close to nicotine in terms of physical dependence.
And the drug lords make far more cash on hard drugs than they do weed, and California (and other state's) liberal laws that allow people to produce it (for medicinal purposes) are already cutting into profits.
