Scientists might have lay prestige, but they're poor as shit. Same with academics living in their esoteric bubbles.
I'm talking about someone with a JD from Stanford/MBA from Harvard/MD from JHU taking home a half million plus a year in their 20's from a front office gig at GS/ortho specialist gig/equity partner at biglaw shop kinda thing. The non-middle class generally looks down on the trade workers and laypeople, man. And that's because, generally speaking, they're objectively better than us.
