Sports is all about a level playing field supposedly. However, no one is created equal, people will ALWAYS look for an edge. Plus, spectators always like to see records being broken. So, even if testing became extremely stringent, people would always try to find a way. I think it's much healthier and safer to allow steroid use by athletes and have them under supervision than to let them try to cheat fate so to speak. Now, if you're competing in a specifically specified "drug-free" sport or sanction, then I do think it's cheating. For most sports though, if you can use cleats to run faster or a suit to swim faster, why not steroids to do the same thing from the inside out?

Yes it is cheating. But since nearly every professional athlete using them, the playing field is even.

I here the term "cheating" in all kinds of activities. Whether it is BBing, sports, powerlifting, or even something like auto racing, but I dont see the use of something to be cheating unless the other people cant use it or dont have access to it. Which is not the case with sports anyone of them could use gear. So, if they don't like it they should use too, try harder, or get over it.

i know steroids would be helpful in sports like baseball or footbal where power and size are important. i have never understood how they would be helpful in endurance sports, like bikeriding, or running.

do some steroids make you run faster, or pedal longer and harder? or is just increasing muscle to perform such tasks?

there are even rampant rumors of AAS use in pro tennis. boris becker was blasted for making this statement once.

My dad sure does
He keeps telling me when Barry Bonds' name goes in the record books they will have to put an asterisk next to it :o
He and I disagree on this one...I tell him "Dad, how do you think Bonds gets away with using and never getting caught...from talking in depth to guys like me :D" LOL...
