LOL - for the record, I put the plate back on the rack after that too.rgjujitsu said:Madcow no one has ever questioned your technique, or your ability to smack people with 45lb plates.
not only does it piss me off when i have to take other peoples weight off something before i use it( unless i tell them to leave it) but when people stack the weights wrong like the 25's on top of the 10's or anywhere else but where they belong.Crying Brian said:Usually it is skinny ass punks that leave the weights on the bar.
Also i can't stand assholes that stand right in front of the dumbell rack. I always move back a few feet for others can come up and grab the weights.
rgjujitsu said:Would you guys say something to someone who does leave plates on the bar? Not 135, but like 315 or more?
Lupercal CATS said:I take my weights off of everything except bench. At the gym I go to it is kind of expected to leave 45s on because 99% of everyone there uses at least 1 45.
I can agree with that. It is only polite to remove people who can't work with the 100lb plates.redguru said:A lot of people can't lift the 100lb plates on the 45° leg press machine, so I feel it's only polite to remove them.

Warmups require starting lower than 135 even if you are woking up to over 300lbs...
45 (bar) x 20
95 x 15
135 x 10
185 x 8
225 x 6
275 x 4
315 x 3...
Lupercal CATS said:I am saying this from what goes on at the gym I go to now. At my old gym people ALWAYS racked the weight back up but at the one now there is always a 45 on the bar.

Quadsweep's Sister said:I like to go around the gym and put the 5 and 10lb plates in between the 45's on the squat and bench racks.
...then I like to watch people fling them off the racks while they're getting off the 45's - makes my night and gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling.![]()
blut wump said:Endless hours of fun. I reckon if the weights are strewn all over the floor then it's much easier to choose the one you want. We have a variety of Weider, York, Olympic and un-named plates and I hate using mis-matched plates when lifting. I'm sure people reckon I'm odd when I take a plate off the rack and then use the one that was underneath it.
vin01 said:Yeah, the WORST is when you want to get a plate, only having to remove 5 others, of varying poundage, off that peg to get to it.
I don't understand how people can't match up plates on the right pin. It's like little kids trying to hammer a square peg through a round hole. (not that hard)

As we can see from the comments, the decency necessary to return the weights may not be very "common".chicknlegs said:Other than that, it is common decency to replace the weights after use.

blut wump said:Bars at my gym are typically left with a plate at each end so that's how I usually leave them. I think people consider it unmanly to use less than a plate on each end for bench or semi-squats so that's what most start with.
My first action on getting to a fresh station, though, is to remove the two plates since I almost always begin my sets with an empty bar.
Crox said:I feel guilty now, I always leave a plate on bench and two on leg press, but I totally strip everything else. My gym is terrible for people leaving their crap everywhere, today I went to the squat rack and someones left a 2 1/2lb plate on each side.
Dposey said:I put all my plates back but I'm definitely starting to feel less and less inclined to do so every week. The thing that I hate is not as much when people leave their plates (I'm ok with taking off a couple 45s) but how they completely screw up the weight order. People are putting 10s and 25s where the 5s are supposed to be, filling up one rack while leaving the other completely bare, etc. I always end up organizing the squat rack in between my sets, putting all the plates where they're supposed to be. Such a waste of time but it helps the time pass heh.
