Do you feel sorry for the people in New Orleans that died?

Woo! you;re fired up. why?

I've given to the relief effort, even though I am no fan of the Red Cross (for lying about donations for 9/11 and then using them elsewhere). And people I know from when I lived in NO are coming to stay with me.

I like tacos. Do you think this storm was rough on mexicans?

Cubans, Matt. In that area there are Cubans.

Not really, MTS, the Mexicans in the Pensacola area are chomping at the bit for more work. There's a lot of talk going around about the migrants here leaving for Biloxi and NO.

Yep, they are leaving here too, glad my construction project is done, because all the construction people are leaving to follow the insurance dollars.

Is this the end of th good margarita?

A lot of work to be done down there.

I guess the farmers and the service industries will suffer if they all go down there.

Shoulda seen the line of Asplundh trucks and utility cherrypickers waiting for AL to open the Mobile Bay causeway today. They were all stopped here in Pensacola getting food and rooms. Police cruisers too, from everywhere.

I'm thinking also about how much of a transportation hub New Orleans is, as well. Alternate routes for truckers? CSX railroad? Amtrack? Barge traffic?

we do some biz with the intermodals down there.

depending on how you measure it, NO is the US's #2 port after Long Beach

There is only one way in and out of NO right now. The rest of the routes are severely damaged.

Don't know about the rail system at this point.

The levee couldn't be repaired at this time and they are expecting 15 feet of water in NO in 12-15 hours.
