Do you feel sorry for the people in New Orleans that died?

Friend of a friend was there, and posted this to her blog:

All car rentals, airlines, bus lines and the train station are now
closed until further notice. They aren't even sure when they will
be operating again. It's only after they are all closed that the
Mayor orders evacuation -- then he orders incoming roads
closed so no one can come get me out.

Let's think about that for a second....

Her friend notes that "even before then, flights were unavailable, all rental cars gone, so a lot of tourists got caught stuck in their hotels."

Damned there's a bunch of thin skinned bastards on this site. Hell, anyone that wanted to get out of the city or go to a shelter had the fucking chance to do so. The people that stayed behind and died did so by their own choice. One lady was quoted as saying that she was staying because "god can turn this thing around at the mouth of the Mississippi River". Come on, anyone that stupid should be removed from the gene pool.

I stand by my remarks.

I'm running 33% green karma for this thread

Yeah, they've had 50 years to develop a real evacuation plan in case of the big one and this is how far they came.

The levies were failing a couple of years ago and there was talk about how to replace them. The State knew there were cracks forming that would crumble during the first major overflow.

It would have cost the same amount to replace the levies as it cost for 7 days of operations in Iraq. Or so someone stated on TV last night.

Remember the big one they avoided two years ago? Two years later and they did zip. Even the Waterboy knew too much water would be a bad thing.

Now here is where I'm gonna ask you wtf do you know about NO? How do you know EVERYONE that wanted to get out Could indeed get out?

There were people waiting for someone to come and get them. The city is over croweded... the evacuation routes were set in place for years but like any instance in life you can prepare ALL YOU WANT... nothing NOTHING can truely prepare you for what happened to the citizens.

These people were all humans and belonged to a family. Your an ass for discounting someones life because they didn't leave a city of destruction. So you think they deserve to go hungry, drown, or be killed?

Honey, they had emergency workers going around all week evacuating people. There were free bus rides to the superdome. I'm convinced that there were no people begging for help in evacuating who did not get it. Well, they may have been begging for help once the storm arrived, but they should have already been gone. If there is anyone that tried to evacuate when they announced the MANDATORY evacuation and still wasn't able to get out, then I feel bad for them if they croaked. I'm still waiting for someone to find any victims of this type.

Don't assume this shit!

Some elderly don't and otherwise other low income DON'T have phones etc. There actually were people waiting that they didn't get picked.

I like the way you claim to KNOW shit no one could even possibly know. No one can say that everyone had the opportunity to escape. Sure some stayed knowing the danger. But does that discount their value of life?

Karma sweetie.. remember it also is passed around in real life. ;)
