Do you ever worry about "wearing out" your body due to lifting weights or sports??

I heard about runners who end up barley able to walk without pain when they get older.

Granted..these are marathon type runners though.

Do you think you did all that from lifting too heavy????

The knee is from sports, the rest is from lifting.

I actually think I was severely over training for many years. since I've cut back on the volume and balls to the wall intensity I feel much better over all.

The key is moderation. I use mainly machines now because it's less stress on the body. I'm still making progress. I see no reason why I can't lift forever. Knees are better than 10 years ago. Squats are bad for most people, I don't care what they say. Now, I do the leg press machine and it doesnt bother my knees.

Me too and I haven't lost anything either. Lots of myths out there. That last rep with heavyweight might be the one to snap a tendon.

There's this machine at my gym that's like a lever squat/deadlift machine, with handles on each side of you with weight pegs on the outside of them. It's my favorite machine to use because I have a long back and having a barbell in front of my knees puts too much strain on it.

when i get tired or high i will start wobbling around and not know if its because im exhausted and sore from lifting, or if my body actually is falling appart,

I haven't lost anything either...I've actually gotten stronger. I think I was "beating up my body" so bad that even though I allowed plenty of rest and food to recover, it still wasnt enough for my body to heal and repair itself.

I think I was putting my body into shock(and not in a good way).
