devote one whole day to shoulders ?

Maverick

Is this a good idea ? I think everytime I step into the gym, I want to make sure I am hitting one big body part (back, legs or chest)

I feel that the shoulders get worked on many other exercises....

any input orbs ?

Karma for the help !!!

i dont know many guys who don't devote a workout day to just shoulders. If you want big ones you have too. You gotta work the front, middle, and rear delts for some good shoulders.

so yes, you should consider shoulders another BIG bodypart.

i use to do bi/back/shoulders on the same day with great results. never done just shoulders in a day. it would be like a 10 minute workout.

If your shoulders are lagging, train them alone. If your chest is lagging train them with chest and shoulder day. It all depends. I used to do shoulders on their own day and they caught up with the rest of my body. Now, my chest is behind so I do chest on Shoulder day too.

I do shoulders with back usually. My shoulder routine is basic to say the least, 4 sets of 6 seated military press. All that isolation stuff is pointless IMO. If you can press 225 over head for reps you'll have big shoulders period.

I usually do shoulders/traps and calves on the same day. For shoulders I do.....

military press - 4x6-8
machine shoulder press - 3x6
side raises- 3x8
front raises - 3x8
corner raises - 3x8 (arms halfway between front position and side)

bb shrugs - 4x8
db shrugs - 4x8

yea, I pretty much train the shoulder girdle/trap region on the same day...

barbell clean and press - 3 or 4x5 but sometimes I'll hit some doubles and singles after (note: I've seen my shoulders and upper back explode from doin these - if you dont do them currently, make sure you watch or learn from someone who knows what they're doing first)

push press - 8, 6, 4, 2 (reps) - another favorite shoulder exercise

heavy vertical rows - 10, 8 6, failure (done without strict form, I use drive from the hips)

then side laterals with dumbbells, rear laterals etc.

I haven't done strict militaries or arnold presses in a while and I have seen tremendous gains from doing these exercises.

peace,
CN

Nothing wrong with that. Ive done it before with good results. I used to do a six day one body part per day type split. The way I train now, with the weights used, I could never recover. But you can throw shoulders in any day of the week without doing a six day split. I still tend to focus on major muscles one day at a time, but then I might add another bodypart in, like back and biceps. It has alot to do with your energy levels and how much you can complete in a day. I like having a day to focus on a muscle. Like my chest days.

I work shoulders and calves on the same day. My calves take about 10 min., so you can imagine how much work I put into my shoulders if my workouts are at least 1 hour. Traps are included in the routine too.

Thumbs pointing up when you do them. My physical therapist showed them to me during rehab.
It's shoulder night no less - ohh I'm gonna work those in.
THANKS!

Hey how's liquid hell doing for you?

I've learned to throw it back like doing shots and I don't taste it............

much. ;)

Actually, my joints are already feeling better. :)

i dont think u need to only work delts, just work them first if there a problem area, like with any muscle. or train them more often, try training then twice a week for 4 weeks, then cut down to once a week for 4 weeks.

I agree with this, no need to get fancy and do tons of sets for shoulders. I do a pressing exercise for 2-3 sets and maybe a front or lateral raise, and am working shoulders 2x per week....chest\delts\tris

IMHO you already train your shoulders on chest day
amd you also use your shoulders for back exercises

So training them again on a specific day is too much for me

dont see much point it putting a whole day for shoulders. you use them as stabilizers for everything associated with upper body, and to some extent when you are squatting.

no shit, u use your whole upper body for squatting, what do u think is hold the weights? well i know u know :) , but i hate when most people think its just for the quads.

nobody had mentioned it, and i would say 95% of people dont realize this. i hate it too when people say that squatting is only for quads. what about the lower back, glutes, hams...
