Decline Bench Press

Sorry fellas, but muscles can not be shaped. the 'cut' under the pectoralis minor would be from diet, not dips....

You have what god gave you - it is up to you to carve it. If your upper chest is bigger, it will always be - you will never 'bring up' a weaker body part that is part of same body part (pecs are pecs). You can not isolate the minor from the major. They are not delts.

Im not doubting you, however I dont agree... i know if i focus and work hard enough i can change ANY thing i want considering my body.. shape, size, perportion... anything. Minor--or--major it doesnt matter... there is a study ill bring up connecting the mind to muscle interaction in which some 100 male subjusts were tested, and the half that were put on an workout regimine-had noticable gains in this time tested. Somewhere around a 25-50% increase in muscle mass. The other half were told to only "Mentally" think about their muscles growing and doing the workouts for an alotted amount of time per day... surprizingly their increases on the "mental" group was a significant percentage on average... somewhere around 5% mass increase.

**not completely acurate

ANYTHING is possible.

Dips, mindset, Eating, Decline bench... Just do it! Determination is the goal here. That alone will make you grow.

Edit-- Ill look around for the actual testing.. my stepdad has it lying around somewhere if anyone is interested...

Something to add on...do declines even doing anything? Ive heard ya they do but ive heard and done some reading and come to the conclusion that a lot of experienced gym rats just do dips and think the decline is a wasted movement and the flat and incline and flyes are where its at with dips in there too..

can anybody clear this up for me?

I prefer dips great chest exercise and tri killer. Al had a good point though, if you want that cut line it's gonna come down to diet.... you can see tiny chested guys with very low body fat with a cut line under the pecs.... however I think his statement came out sounding a little sided... you can grow bigger pecs by training them and then you'll also have more of a cut if they are bigger, but diet an cardio will play big roles even then!!

and yes declines "do" something... any exercise does something.... just most prefer to trade out a better exercise ie dips for a lesser form of exercise, training the same muscle groups... ie decline

Yeh i would have to say im with papa lion on this one. I scrapped declines awhile ago. I dont like moving a decent amount of weight off of the rack for declines. It makes my shoulders feel funny trying to get the weight up and off the rack by myself it seems to be an awkward movement moving weight from behind ur head to over your chest somewhat like that. So i prefer dips and i think they work more and they get ur triceps good too.

Kind of hard to explain what i just said up above but im sure you guys that still do declines or used to know what im talking about when ur trying to move the weight off the rack in terms of how uncomfortable it can be.
