Creatine cycling

i traded in some unopened l-glutamine for 1000g's of Prolab Creatine Monohydrate it says use 1.5g's 3 times daily but i am not sure about a good cycle. I weight 185 and am 6'2. What would be a good amount for loading and good maintanence. Also how long should i stay on it? Also do i just continual take it during maitenence or just before work outs etc. Oh and is creatine good to mix with a whey for pre workout drink? after workout etc.

I am glad i found a forum like this with so many expierienced supplement users ;)
 
Load at 25 g/day for 5 days, then switch to 5g/day maintenance. I'm not sure how to cycle it, but I know it takes a full month off for the creatine receptors to upregulate after taking creatine for an extended period.

I've also seen research indicating that after the loading period muscle creatine levels are highest, but fall off slowly afterwards. Based on that, I would just take a break after 2-3 months for 1 month, and then reload. You could make this coincide with an already-planned drop in training intensity if you want the most efficient use of creatine. Otherwise, if you train continuously, just arbitrarily pick the layoff time.

On taking it: take before workouts, and it will help a tiny bit to take it with 30-ish grams of a simple carb. On off days, take it at about the same time you would on training days.

try doing a search first.... as this is a common topic... anyway...

5g 30min before workout with simple carbs
5g immediately after workout with simple carbs
2 weeks on (or 3)
1 week off

this has worked for me... and i keep gains. gained 25 lbs in 2-3 months
