i didn't answer because whenever anyone even hints at asking what I make at my regular job, i don't answer.

i just feel it's private.
if the answer is higher than what they expect, either I could be subject to negative comments or judgements.
If it's lower, i've lost some respect.

well that's cool too. i don't care if people share their salary with me. i don't judge or care.

but it's kind of like religion to me- just because I dont' care what others are, i know perfectly well that i'll be judged when i tell some people what mine is. not always, but if i just don't discuss it, i never have to worry about it coming back to me.

I'm the director of marketing for a midsize (small?) company. Someone in marketing could probably figure out aproximately what I make.
