hey guys,

so my beemer cut on me,

saw the engine over heat...
after i noticed the battery light came on

i pulled my car over smoking engine waited for it to cool down, went to a sunoco grabbed a snapple and water to toss on the engine.

now the car started... just fine, and even drove.. however:

the oil light was on
the light for the battery was still on
and the steering wheel appeared STIFF, or heavy to turn
there was also a great deal of fluid allover the ground around the car when i first parked it,

what do you guys think is wrong? anything bad coming my way tomorow at the autoshop?

the stupidity is so overwhelming I want to punch you

Also the oil dummy light may be even worse and you have low oil or oil pressure. Leads to bad bearings/bottom end failure.

head gasket. your car fucked you.

And since its a BMW(Big money wasted) its going to be expensive as H&*( to fix. They don't just give you the maintenance program with the new ones because they wont to help you, they give it to you , because no one would buy them if they did not. They are maintenance nightmares. Stick to a Lexus.

I don't know anything about BMWs in particular, but it does sound like the belt busted or slipped off. But if it's just an old worn out belt that snapped, the car shouldn't have overheated until AFTER the belt failed. You should have lost power steering, seen the battery/charge light come on, and probably other lights, and then in a about 20 seconds, the temp would soar up. If it overheated first, then I'd say the water pump seized up and burned out the belt.

Sounds high, but actually those damping (hydraulic) tensioners are costly. Lots of Diesel vehicles use them, since they tend to keep more constant tension on the belt, and that's critical in Diesel engines. In gas engines, it's good as well, but not really necessary. A timing set (idler, tensioner, tensioner spring, belt, and front seals) for most any import car, is about $300 for a good one. So the BMW set must be about double that, plus labor.
