You talk about frustrating. I actually was asked to leave a board becuase I made a comment about 16 year olds using juice. Heres the deal, We know nothing. They know everything. Bad things only happen to other people. I deal with people like this everyday. I have been working with a kid for 2 years now. Often times I would give him advice. and of course, he didn't follow it. He knew better, and made bad choices. Just last week, I was talking with his family and his mother said that her biggest fear was that we were going to end up burying him. Wednesday, that is exactly what we did. He commited suicide Sunday. On Thursday I was suppose to meet with another guy and he was suppose to start in-patient treatment. I have worked with him in the past and knew him well. Wednesday night he overdosed. Are these extreme examples? yes. Both of these individuals have told me in the past that these things would never happen to them. Its always the same story and it never gets easier. And I am tired of looking parents in the eye and not having an answer when they ask me why I didn't do something.
