I knew a guy who had an H2 and didn't want to walk from the parking garage (in the city) so he parked in the no parking spot in front of the building every day and just paid the $15 parking ticket...every day. I used to think what a prick and then I figured... shoot if I had the money I'd do the same thing.

In my opinion, the Hummer is simply just a status symbol and does not serve any real purpose. There are many other SUV’s available that get better gas mileage and are just as 'luxurious'. Why do you feel the need for such a status symbol to stroke your ego with?

You will be more than likely spending an average of $3,800+ on gas per year! That’s about $1,800 more than what I spend! That’s $2,000 gas burned for no reason. I don’t know about you, but there certainly are plenty of people today struggling. When you (and others like you) are wasting $2,000 in gas every year, then all you’re doing is driving up the demand which in turn drives up the cost. Simply put, what you are doing is neglecting our energy resources, something we cannot afford to do especially in this day and age! And what I stated is not an environmental argument; it is common sense.

I am all about the environment but if you're going to play the green card you'd better live and breath it. Recycle, organic, earth friendly foods, chemicals, clothing, conserve energy, conserve heat.

most people cant get a car loan if they wanted to now...have to take what you can get...auto mechanic put a hole in my engine and ruined my car..had no choice but to get another car right then

I drive a manuaul transmission Mazda6, gets around 34 highway and 28 city. Yes, I do recycle. I turn my thermostat down to 48 in the winter when not at home and keep it at 65 when I am at home during the winter. I have only run my a/c twice this summer. I do eat mostly organic as well.

I do not have to fit the tree hugger profile in order to see how wasteful and pointless these vehicles are though. Not to mention that they are death machines. They are the ehaviest car you can buy at 8500lbs with raised bumpers. Try getting into an acident with one of these with your economy car.
 
When the fuel efficient cars came out I was tempted to buy one but it was like pay off my grand prix... or get into a whole new car payment. I am going to run this car for a few more years and see what happens with electric vehicles...etc...

We have a Chevy S-10 2500HD... fairly similar and it's for work. Always nice to have a truck around, can't tow things with a fuel efficient car :)

You have no argument other than that you like the way it looks...even though they are ugly as fuck. The only reason you like the way it looks is because it's so fucking obnoxious looking, drawing peoples attention to it. Almost bought a stripped down 1998 H1 at a gov. auction, another fuck kept bidding higher than me though. I want a stripped down H1 for mudding, their axles have killer ground clearance.

I moved back to the States in 04. Wife wanted something different so we went to look at the Hummers. Two classic quotes from the salesman.

"We don't negotiate the price on Hummers - the sticker is what you pay"

"If you can't afford gas, you can't afford a Hummer"

I walked out on the second one. It is a $50k car not a Bentley for Christ sakes.

When gas prices came down awhile back I talked to a hummer dealer because I wanted them to wholesale me one for a customer of mine. They said they couldn't because they were flying off the lot. They actually had people fighting over them for a few months.

People are stupid like that, they want to bail on them when gas is high, and soon as it drops they run out and buy them up. LOL

i wouldnt pull a weapon on someone in a fist fight. if someone comes at me with a blunt instrument, what should i do, allow them to murder me? runaway is probably the best choice i think. i always have a 4 inch belt clip razor wherever i go. its just too risky to be unarmed nowadays. this is only my opinion. i wouldnt expect everyone to agree.

i also have a super paranoid brother who works for the government and swears if you arent armed your dead before anything happens. he has seen alittle more than me so i listen to my older brother. who knows, maybe the weapons could be the difference between my wife and i being killed by a stranger who just wants our car/money/lives/etc.

please dont think you can beat a bullet though. lets be realistic. if someone pulls a gun with intent to use it on you, crazy or not, you will get wounded and there is a very direct chance you will die from the wounds. reality check: just cause you have battle experience and have protected my freedom as well as millions of americans (and if i havent said thank you for serving this great country, thank you) doesnt scare a bullet. you may go out with honor and pride, but if someone has the full intention of using a weapon on you you are in trouble. you should be reasonable and know this.

thats the thing, nothing. its being prepared. i could ramble off more than afew dozen of my friends and family who are the same, especially the cops/ex-military. ive been told hundreds of times, its better to have a gun/weapon and never need it, than to need it and not have it. sucks really, but its true. and i am not a proponent of violence nor am i a loud mouth looking for trouble. i just want to be left alone and if the day comes when i need to be ready to defend myself, i want to be ready. it really does bother me at times but if you watch the news, youd be crazy not to be ready.

my good friends wife carries an open 5 inch blade in her hand when she walks to her car alone at night. my wife carried a t-blade whenever she went into the parking garage of her former place of employment. dont want to be a victim. sounds sickening doesnt it? we are just a normal family, paying taxes, etc. and this is the world we have around us.

like i have said, i dont expect people to agree with the whole idea. its a personal thing. believe me, i have sat in on "discussions" where people have become enraged at the thought and flipped out about my views. its just how we feel. i wont allow some freak/junkie/lowlife/etc to intervene in my life without a fight. thats the point. and in the current society we live in, a normal person like myself means shit to the system and any brutality afflicted upon me or my family will be treated like its nothing to noone. so better to be prepared. noone is watching out for you but you. thats what i believe.
