Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Hey BL -- congrats to you & your wife! You'll love your results & the "confidence" you gain from getting your results!

When I've gone looking for dextrose I've actually had to order it online. It is usually pretty cheap.

The biggest challenge once you have the mindset & the actual plan is making it a part of your lifestyle -- after you get the whole process down, especially the packing food for the next day -- it becomes pretty easy - you find what way works best for you and then you just "go". You also get pretty good at eyeballing serving sizes and calories. Its just establishing the habit & familiarity.

Good luck and looking forward to your progress!

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Thanks Sassy69,

I will do some research today online and find somewhere to order those items.

I have a questions about my diet.. For my mid morning breakfast its looking like this.

1/2 Cup Quaker Oats 150cal 3gfat 27carbs 5g protein.
2 packets of Sweetner Splenda
1.5oz Raisins 129cal 0g fat, 34carbs 1g protein.

It looks like I may be getting too many carbs from this meal? I was thinking of changing the raisins to something else that may be better for us. Any suggestions or I am worried for nothing?

Thanks,

Lips

For a typical cut, yes.. I tend to keep my morning meal a tad high in carbs (about what you have) and mostly complex.

The oats are great, but in all honestly I would ditch the raisins and maybe up the oats to 3/4 a cup and add some protein in there (I prefer egg beaters int he morning, but other lean proteins are certainly acceptable)

Try to keep a decent amount of protein in every meal if possible

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Thanks Poysyn,

Thats what I was thinking..

So I'm gonna ditch the raisins.. Change this meal up like this.. This meal is on the go for my wife and I. This is our mid morning meal at around 10:30am.

3/4 Cup Quaker Oats 225cal 4gfat 41carbs 8g protein.
2 packets of Sweetner Splenda
3 Egg Whites Hard Boiled 49cal 0gfat 1carb 10g protein.

Anything else I can put into the oats to spicen it up without throwing out my numbers? Meal went down really well with raisins. :chomp:

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Other real easy stuff is Splenda, protein mix, even a couple shakes of say some vanilla fat free / sugar free pudding mix.

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

You can also completely swap out the oatmeal for another complex carb e.g. sweet potatos + splenda ... damn just like candy...

Try Cinnamon or berries

Thanks!!

1/4 cup blueberries adds 20 cals & 5g Carbs.. Way better than the raisins.. This is great!!

Ooooh, 1/4 cup strawberries adds 11 cals & 3 carbs..

Thanks for the tip Bunny.. I'm starting to understand how little changes in the diet can make a whopping difference in the bottom line. My wife and I were discussing that we need a kitchen scale to check our portions so we better understand how much we are really eating..

Berries, straw/rasp/blue are VERY good for you.

I can't eat oats without Cinn & splenda :)

No doubt! The spenda is a godsend... :verygood: I also add in Cinn but with the berries I don't think i'll need it.
