Hi All,

Great site, used to frequent it years ago. Its time to get back and start taking care of myself for (me and my family). I want to be around for as long as possible.

My Stats
34Yrs - M - 5'10 - 234Pds - BF% 30.03 Per Tanita Scale

I have slowly gained weight over the last 6 years to my current weight. Can anyone recommend a online personal calculator to help me input my food intake to keep track of my calories, carbs, protein, ect. I would also like to be able to input my workouts also if possible. I have never counted calories before so Im rather new to that idea but I feel it will be really benefitial to keep on track for my goals.

I have a rather large build so I am making my initial goal to be 180pds. I hope to reach this goal by March 1, 2007!

My plan at this point will be Cardio 5-6 days a week, 45mins-60mins per workout. In addition, strength training approx 4 days a week for 30mins.

I plan to eat as clean, I have already started 2 servings of Whey protein daily and Oatmeal/raisens in morning.

Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. I might also mention that my wife will be joining me also. We have a home gym with a treadmill and a powergym full system with dual rack weights. I loved to hit the gym before but we both work and have two small children and using the home gym is our only choice.

I plan to diet and train on a similar approach to pintoca who was nice enough to post a plan that worked very well for him.

Thank you,
Lips

Thanks All,

Fitday is sweet.. I even bought the PC version.. This program should really keep me in line.

HI Pintoca & Bunny,

I'm finding it a little diffucult to count calories and such but have been able to do it. Today, I decided to use a notepad and I will enter data into fitday tonight but I believe I have Pintoca guidelines down well.

My wife and I have been going since Thursday with great success so far. Its alot of effort to put all our meals together the night before but I have been doing it. One thing that is missing is the other suppliments that I need besides the Whey Protein. I need to locate the Dextrose & Maltodextrin. Can you give me an idea where I can find these products. I tried Costco, GNC & Trader Joe's with no success. I would like to find these items and get them tied into the Protein Shake.

Just as an update I weighed in at 229.6 this morning down from 234 on Thursday. Could be mostly water loss, but I have also been downing 1.5 gallons at least per day. ;)

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Hey BL -- congrats to you & your wife! You'll love your results & the "confidence" you gain from getting your results!

When I've gone looking for dextrose I've actually had to order it online. It is usually pretty cheap.

The biggest challenge once you have the mindset & the actual plan is making it a part of your lifestyle -- after you get the whole process down, especially the packing food for the next day -- it becomes pretty easy - you find what way works best for you and then you just "go". You also get pretty good at eyeballing serving sizes and calories. Its just establishing the habit & familiarity.

Good luck and looking forward to your progress!

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Thanks Sassy69,

I will do some research today online and find somewhere to order those items.

I have a questions about my diet.. For my mid morning breakfast its looking like this.

1/2 Cup Quaker Oats 150cal 3gfat 27carbs 5g protein.
2 packets of Sweetner Splenda
1.5oz Raisins 129cal 0g fat, 34carbs 1g protein.

It looks like I may be getting too many carbs from this meal? I was thinking of changing the raisins to something else that may be better for us. Any suggestions or I am worried for nothing?

Thanks,

Lips

For a typical cut, yes.. I tend to keep my morning meal a tad high in carbs (about what you have) and mostly complex.

The oats are great, but in all honestly I would ditch the raisins and maybe up the oats to 3/4 a cup and add some protein in there (I prefer egg beaters int he morning, but other lean proteins are certainly acceptable)

Try to keep a decent amount of protein in every meal if possible

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Thanks Poysyn,

Thats what I was thinking..

So I'm gonna ditch the raisins.. Change this meal up like this.. This meal is on the go for my wife and I. This is our mid morning meal at around 10:30am.

3/4 Cup Quaker Oats 225cal 4gfat 41carbs 8g protein.
2 packets of Sweetner Splenda
3 Egg Whites Hard Boiled 49cal 0gfat 1carb 10g protein.

Anything else I can put into the oats to spicen it up without throwing out my numbers? Meal went down really well with raisins. :chomp:

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Other real easy stuff is Splenda, protein mix, even a couple shakes of say some vanilla fat free / sugar free pudding mix.

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

You can also completely swap out the oatmeal for another complex carb e.g. sweet potatos + splenda ... damn just like candy...

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Try Cinnamon or berries

Thanks!!

1/4 cup blueberries adds 20 cals & 5g Carbs.. Way better than the raisins.. This is great!!

Ooooh, 1/4 cup strawberries adds 11 cals & 3 carbs..

Thanks for the tip Bunny.. I'm starting to understand how little changes in the diet can make a whopping difference in the bottom line. My wife and I were discussing that we need a kitchen scale to check our portions so we better understand how much we are really eating..

Berries, straw/rasp/blue are VERY good for you.

I can't eat oats without Cinn & splenda :)

No doubt! The spenda is a godsend... :verygood: I also add in Cinn but with the berries I don't think i'll need it.

Don't be afraid of calories..you are a bigger guy and NEED those calories to function properly. Please keep in mind some things..

1.) (assuming you ate a bit more than you needed before, not as 'whole' as you are now) You will have to eat MUCH more whole foods to reach the same amount of calories, and it can be very easy to not eat enough.

2.)Assuming you were also more sedentary than active (now you are running a lot, and lifting) your caloric need is going to sky rocket as well

I think this is one of the biggest reasons diets fail. It is not because people can't commit, hell, I think that is the easy part. If you undereat with that activity you will burn through muscle instead of fat, and could potentially leave you more worse off than when you started.

I bring this point up because it seems like you are worried about 10 or 20 calories here (as I was at one point) when you should focus more on what to eat. Eat clean and form a calorie deficit of some form, and you will lose weight. In my opinion/experience, the closer that deficit be to maintenance the more percentage of fat will be lost, so don't try and eat 1000 calories..

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Thanks for the insight Poysyn,

You are totally correct.. I feel like I am eating way too much now since I am eating 5+ times a day with clean food. Its very hard for me to start eating when I'm not hungry. I'm also finding the my mind trys to play tricks on me when I starting eating, even though I am not feeling stuffed or totally full, my mind wants to keep eating until I can fit anymore food in there! :chomp:

I used to eat about 3 times a day with snacks mixed in before. I would get my Starbucks and a scone in the am. When noon hit, I would get a monster lunch Burrito, McDonalds., BurgerKing, Quiznos, Subway, ect. When my wife gets home from work we would go out to dinner 5+ nights a week. Anywhere, we eat Chinese one night, Taco Bell one night, Pizza Another (1 could knock down a Med Pepperoni, Pinneaple & sauage by myself  ). You get the picture.

We went out to dinner Thur & Fri night last week and I still eat clean. No bread! Ordered fish w/cottage cheese and veggies. I would never do that before.

I'm currently eating about 2300 cals per day now.
My wife is running about 1500 cals per day also

As you can see from my habits above, I should have no issues dropping the weight but I am a fat guy and mentally screwed up. Luckily for me, I have a decent muscular build so even at 234 I still looked half way decent. IMO of course. :mix:

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

We'll it's been 1 complete week for me now.. I think everything has been going good. With my diet plan and sticking to meals every 3 hours I never get hungry. I have put absolutely everything into fitday to be sure exactly where I want to be. This is my first week clean to a t..

End of 1st week stats..

34Yrs - M - 5'10 - 234Pds - BF% 30.03 Per Tanita Scale Start
Week 1: 229.8Pds - BF% 27.80 Per Tanita Scale

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Week two update..

Not going very good. Just depressed.. I want it to start happening too quickly. I have been lifting hard and doing cardio. I just ran a fitday report and these are my two week averages.

2,275 Calories 28% Fat 28% Carbs & 41% Protein

I weighed 228.2 this morning and have been there for almost a week. I feel like I may be doing something wrong. I'm tempted to drop my calorie intake down and I am really hesitant to up my calorie intake. Just confused.

Does anyone have the PC version of fitday that would be willing to take a look and my file and give me some advise?

My meal plan has been like this.

Wake: 2 Scoops Whey Protein
1 Tbs : Flax Seed Oil
1 Cap: Fish Oil
1 Cap: Multivitiamin

10:00am
3/4 Quaker Oats
1/4 Fruit added to oats

12:30pm
2 Slices Whole Wheat Flax Bread
2 Tbs ANPB
2 Tbs Sugar Free Jam

3:30pm
8oz Chicken Breast
1/4 Veggies

7:00pm
1/2 Cup Brown Rice
6oz Salmon

9:00pm Workout Lifting / Treadmill or both

10:00pm
2 Scoops Whey Protein

Hit the sack. Sometimes I have been getting up early AM and doing 30 min on treadmill if I lifted the night before and didn't have enough to get some treadmill time in.

Thanks for any help..

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

quit looking at the scale. It means NOTHING. If you are doing more workouts than you used to, that means you are adding MUSCLE, which weighs more than fat. The scale does not reflect this. Keep it up, and go based on how you feel. Is it easier to squat down and pick something up off the ground? Do your old jeans fit better?

Go by that.

Yeah, I'm definately wearing out the scale.. I did however get the tape measure out two weeks ago and measured all areas and entered into fitday. I was going to wait for a month before measuring again but maybe I'll do it every two weeks instead. I think my jeans are feeling looser but hard to tell since I have so many different pairs in different sizes from the way up... I did notice this morning that my 38's were way too loose and I put them on the upper shelf and wore some 36's today that were really comfortable.

I'm sore as hell from my leg workout on Tuesday night still. So squatting down and picking something up is not a good test right now. LOL But I have to say that I have been more active and felt better lately.

I will do some measurements tonight and post the results this evening. How often do you all suggest on taking tape measurements?

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Ok, here goes my measurements.. If a moderator happens to read this thread would it be possible to rename title to Biglips31 Log rather than me starting another thread. I'm really enjoying this forum and all the help and advice.

Start Two weeks Ago 09-15-06

Neck 17.0 - Bicep 13.60 - Forearm 12.20 - Chest 43.00 - Waist 43.50 - Hips 45.0 - Thigh 26.20 - Calf 17.50

Measurements Last Night 09-28-06

Thanks Much!

Capitalizt mentioned what I was going to mention!! Thats exactly it.. Throw that scale away damn it!!!

You're doing so well with your diet.. Don't allow anything to depress you, Diet is good and just keep at it, You're expecting too much tooooooo soon..

Eventually you'll be where you want to be, keep logging all that you eat and support is here when you want it! You should feel proud of yourself and feel depressed! We don't wanna hear that word again OK biglips! ;)

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Got it IIk,

Thanks for pep talk. I got a little off the diet Friday night and Saturday night due to wedding rehearsal and wedding dinner. Drank a little too much also. :verygood: Anyways, for the first time though I actually watched everything I eat and made very clean choice. Although my numbers for Friday & Saturday went to high (about 1,500 cals) then were all good clean foods except for the intake of alcohol which is very rare for my anyhow.

Anyways, right back to my normal schedule on Sunday. In the past this is generally where I fail. Getting back into the normal routine. I think I am finally realizing the lifestyle change that Im making. I will try and stay away from the scale and not worry about the numbers so much but will continue to post and weekly weigh in and bi-weekly measurements.

Lips ;)

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Exactly..

Forget about the scales..

This is a lifestyle change..

Continue with progress.. If you slip up with diet.. Don't give up.. Always a new day to start fresh.. Well done for choosing suitable meals at wedding..

As long as you log and take note of what you're doing each day.. You're on the right track BigLips!

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

agree with getting rid of the scale..panicing and dropping your cals is worse then upping them by 2000, IMO.

as far as the slip ups go..well you only live life once..so enjoy yourself. your slipups were still probably better than a typical day before you made the lifestyle change.

Week 3 Update

Well finished my 3rd complete week.. Took a couple of run days off cause I was so sore but diet has been picture perfect.

Start was 234
End 1st Week 229.8
End 2nd Week 228.2
End 3rd Week 225.6 Currenty Total Lost 8.4pds

I decided to take measurements every two weeks so I will report then.. I have been feeling under the weather last couple days so I really need to keep at it and push through.

I forgot to mention that my wife is kicking my ass.. She gave birth 5 months ago to our second.

Started 148pds
3rd Week 142pds Total Lost 6 Pds

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

I got my Dextrose and Maltodextrin and Ground Flax Seeds this weekend. How should I impliment them into my diet?? Lots of calories in the Dextrose and Maltodextrin so Im a little hesitant.. Looked at the bags all weekend scarred to touch them...

I added two tablespoons of the ground flax seeds to my oatmeal this morning. I always take 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil with my protein shake in the early morning as posting earlier.

Much thanks..

Week 4 Update

Hmmm,

Feel like Im taking to myself here... :worried:

Anyways, I'm very happy to say that I finished my 4th full week of
my diet. Everything has been going very smooth. I'm pushing a little
harder on my cardio now 45min sessions and my weight lifting so I tweaked
my calories up to 2300-2400 per day. I will be measuring tonight so I'm really looking forward to those results. My 38's jeans are now gone forever. I'm currently in 36's now and I have gone from a little snug to feeling loose and comfortable. It's a nice feeling for sure but I got some more work in front of me.

Well finished my 3rd complete week.. Took a couple of run days off cause I was so sore but diet has been picture perfect.

Start was 234
End 1st Week 229.8
End 2nd Week 228.2
End 3rd Week 225.6
End 4th Week 224.6 Loss of 9.4pds.

I have been taking my PWO shake with the dextrose and maltodextrin with my 60grams of whey protein. 30g of each dextrose and maltodextrin to match.

Will report tonight with my 1 month measurements.

Week 5 Update

We'll time for my 5th week update.. Diet has been rock solid for 5 straight weeks. Have yet to have a legit cheat meal. I have actually had no need or wants. I figure I had enough cheats already. ;)

I have had difficulty finding time to get my workouts in. My priority is diet and that takes about 1 hour to prepare dinner and putting together meals for the next day. After we get kids to bed and finish putting food together its time to hit the sack. I am averaging about 4 workouts week with about 30 minutes lifting and 45 min cardio sessions.

My calorie intake is running about 2300-2400 per day and I changed up my ratios.. I'm going at about 37% Protein 35% Carbs Fat 28%

Start was 234
End 1st Week 229.8
End 2nd Week 228.2
End 3rd Week 225.6
End 4th Week 224.6
End 5th Week 222.8 Loss of 11.20 pds.

Week 6 Update

Its time for 6th week update... Stepped up my Cardio sessions and Weight Lifting.. Hitting treadmill 45 min a day and weightliftng sessions every other day. My body seems to be responding well to the treatment. :mix:

I think the biggest struggle with weight loss is keeping mental toughness. I keep telling myself that it took 6 years to go from 180 to 234 so you can't expect it to happen very quickly.. I watch biggest loser and you see the pounds drop on those people and the numbers are amazing but they are way obese also.

Since I started Sept 15 to today my weight loss has been 2.07pds per week which is right on mark with my target.. It has helped me to put my estimated weights on the calendar in my office to get me excited at looking at next month.. For example.. Nov 24 I expect to be 212 pds which will mark 22pds of fat loss. This really keeps me fired up! Keeping a weekly goal of 2pds and Monthly goals and of course long term goals is they key that has really helped me.

Start was 234
End 1st Week 229.8
End 2nd Week 228.2
End 3rd Week 225.6
End 4th Week 224.6
End 5th Week 222.8
End 6th Week 221.6 Loss of 12.40 pds.

I will be doing my 2 week measurements again tonight and finally got in my bodyfat calipers so I expect to have a better idea on bodyfat %. Also another thing to mention of why I really wanted better idea on bodyfat testing is that I need to know Lean Body Mass because I'm almost sure I put on a few pounds of muscle too..

Measurement Updates

Finally got around to posting my measurments...

Start 09-15-06

Neck 17.0 - Bicep 13.60 - Forearm 12.20 - Chest 43.00 - Waist 43.50 - Hips 45.0 - Thigh 26.20 - Calf 17.50

Measurements 09-28-06

Neck 16.5 - Bicep 13.50 - Forearm 12.00 - Chest 43.50 - Waist 42.50 - Hips 44.0 - Thigh 27.00 - Calf 17.50

Measurements 10-13-06

Neck 16.5 - Bicep 13.50 - Forearm 12.00 - Chest 44.00 - Waist 42.50 - Hips 44.5 - Thigh 27.00 - Calf 17.00

Measurements 10-29-06

Neck 16.75 - Bicep 13.25 - Forearm 12.00 - Chest 43.50 - Waist 41.00 - Hips 43.0 - Thigh 27.00 - Calf 17.00

So looking pretty good so far. I have lost 2.5in on waist and 2.0in on Hips. I seem to be falling off my goal on the scale weight. I was hoping to continue to drop 2pds per week but I am happy with my measurements so far. If I continue to progress with the measurements then the bodyweight should catch up hopefully. I have been staying around 222 the last 10 days.

Week 7 Update

We'll I seem to have hit some type of plateu this last couple weeks. I decided to try cylcing my calories. I have an office desk job so I dont get very much exercise here at work. Because of this I decided to try dropping my calorie intake down just a little. I'm going to try 2,000 cals on M-Tu-W-F-Sa and up cals to 2400 on Th & Su.

I also started my cardio work in the morning now getting up early (45min @ 4.0mph). My intensity is so much lower in the a.m. but I will mix in a HITI a couple times a week in the evening also and of course my weight lifting routine in the evenings.

Week 8 Update

Week 8 Update

Had myself a difficult week for sure.. Picked myself a nice little cold on Sunday and it took me out this whole week. I had to work all week so I was toast by the time I got home. I struggled to get my meals together in the evening but I still somehow managed to eat clean all week. I did struggle with the 6 meals a day for sure and I had a hard time keeping my calories up. I think I averaged about 1700-1800 calories a day this week.. Not good. Last time I was able to workout was Sunday so hopefully I will be able to get back at it this weekend and have a great next week.

I can't believe I have been going at this for two months now.. Wow, time sure does fly. My 2 week measurments are due today so I will be taking them tonight but I don't expect a big change since I been sick. Its a little disappointing to see I have only lost 14 pounds so far. I was hoping for 20 but all in all, I did well. I at least know I can improve for sure.

I'm giving myself a new short term goal of reaching 214 or better by the end of my 14th week.

Start was 234
End 1st Week 229.8
End 2nd Week 228.2
End 3rd Week 225.6
End 4th Week 224.6
End 5th Week 222.8

End 7th Week 220.2

Got my measurements in today and looks like I'm still progressing very well even with the week off. Still sick but managed to get in a solid weightlifting session in yesterday with a hard 45min cardio. Pretty much took everything out of me but managed. I'm gonna hit it hard again today.

Thanks Ilk,

Really appreciate it! I'm really getting excited since I can really see some results now.. I passed on the weightlifting today (neck muscles sore) but I hit the treadmill for a nice 45 min Hiti session. Then my wife wanted to go for a walk with the kids so what they hey. Another 45 min stroll around the neighborhood. :) I think I'm just out of the cold so I should be fine next week. I guess I need to get over to the Hospital for a flu shot. Don't need to get hit with that.

I can't believe I have actually logged everything that I've eaten for two months now but I tell you its very helpful. A couple times I have looked at something :p and refused to eat it cause I know what it would do to my daily log. My wifes kickin butt too but she's not logging since I giving her slightly smaller portions than me. She's at 137 now with 11 pds lost.

Thanks again Ilk,

Been hitting it hard all week.. This is by far my best week since the beginning of my diet. My strength is increasing rapidly and my cardio is coming along also. Last night I was able to run 20mins straight at 5.5mph during my 45 minute session.. My best so far from the beginning of about 10 minutes at 5mph.

I have not taken any pictures as of yet but I mentioned it to my wife (got to get the ok :) , you know the whole internet thing) but she gave me the ok and I'll have her take some pics of me to post. Too bad I didn't take some at the beginning since I'm wearing 34's instead of my 38's jeans I was wearing 9 weeks ago!

Thanks Gordz,

Start a log, its alot of fun and really keeps you on track. I'll do my best to help you along the way even if I'm just a newbie.. There's alot of great people around here!

I got a long way to go still but I just try and take it day by day. I find myself daydreaming thinking about next month though..

Haha alright. Ill get some measurements and stuff after class tomorrow. Then ill get it posted. This would be great and very helpful to weight loss. :)

Week 9 Update

We'll just finished up my 9th week now. This is probably one of my best ones so far as I mentioned before. I didn't work out last night since I had been pushing 5 days in a row so my body needed the day off. Back to the gym tonight..

As I mentioned in my previous posts, I have dropped my cals down a little from where I started.. I am averaging about 2000-2100kcals per day. I also made another adjustment today and I'm going to try and cut my milk consumption down by removing it from my protein shakes.

I have tons of maltodextrin and dextrose but have yet to really use it. Should I really be using this stuff with my PWO shake? I know it would be 2 scoops of protein and 1/2 scoop of each. If someone could chime in and help me with that decision. Just hesitant with those extra calories. Next stop 10 weeks! :mix:

Well done.. Keep at it! Great progress with the run! yes post pics! We're all proud of you! :)

Wow, great job man! Your seeing changes right?

I know after like 4 days now for me (or something like that) Ive noticed less swelling of the face. Must be the water retention. And for some reason my jeans feel slightly bigger. Could just be psychological though.

Yes Gordz,

Definately feel changes. I would say that I feel way my changes by my feelings and clothes then I do from the scale weight.. Quite frankly, I am disappointed with the scale weight but when I look in the mirror my changes so far are dramatic.

When I started I was wearing 38's jeans.. They were comfortable on me and my 36's were too tight and uncomfortable during the day.. I couldn't wait to get home and put my sweats on. :worried: I'm now wearing 34's from my closet and they are comfortable on me as my 38's were when I started my diet. So from that aspect I see a huge change. I have only lost about 16pds so far. The other night I pulled the 38's from the shelf and slipped them on and off without unbuttoning them. That was pretty cool, my wife was shocked. Time to start donating some clothes...

I have implemented alot of weight lifting into my weightloss with my cardio so I think thats why my weightloss has been less than expected. I can cleary see some defination especially in my upper body. In the long run I prefer to be built so as long as I acheive results with my every week measurements than I will continue to not worry about the scale weight.. I am hoping that the scaleweight will catch up later.

Wow that is pretty dramatic. I hope i can get down to size 34 jeans. Im sure I will. My 36's fit pretty good now.

LOL i almost cheated last night. Everyone ordered pizza, meatlovers too. I was salivating. Heavily.. But some how I got through it lol.

Did u notice any changes in your face?

LOL.. I can see you and me have alot in common.. FOOD!!

Just stick with it man.. I have become an absolute rock. I had dinner
plans last night and my friend made reservations at Claim Jumper.. Ahh man.. I ended up ordering a nice 12oz top sirlion and a sweet potato plain.. Skipped on everything else, even desert.. I left completely full and happy this morning when I realized that I automatically took care of myself.. I think my stomach has shrunk or something because I get full feeling rather quickly now also.

My face has definately gotten thinner but overall I think most of my loss has been pretty uniform.. I still have yet to get a comment from a client or friend. I remember a long time ago back in the late 90's i lost about 65pds from 230 to 175 and I was getting comments everyday.. That was a great feeling and I have been looking forward to that.

I'm going over to your log to check in on yah..

Thanks Ilk.. Ha ha.. She's on that dang thing everyday also.. It's like clockwork for the both of us in the a.m. Pee Pee and weigh in. :)

I have not updated on her lately. She is still doing awesome although she's not working out as much as she would like.. She's takes care of the baby in the morning so she's really tired in the evening from being up at 5:00am and working all day. I have been packing her breakfast and lunch for her to take to work so her diet has been really good.

She mentioned that her company has a yoga class at lunch time so she was going to start taking that class since shes there anyhow. We have a friend that has done awesome from taking just yoga and dieting properly.

She Started at 148pds
3rd Week 142pds
9th Week 135pds Total Lost 13pds

I think her goal is to reach 115 and then she wants upgraded boobies.. :chomp:

The other benefit of being healthy is that sexlife has been great. :qt: Activity level is back to pre-marriage and pre-kids.. he he

Anyway... Def YOGA!!!! luch time class sounds great! It'll make her feel very relaxed and open... upgraded boobies! :lil k: How happy are you right now! make sure she doesn't go tooo big! C cup would be fine for her desired weight... And get the teardrop implant.. Alot more natural than the rounded silicone...

Anyway Enjoy the naughty naughty!!! Always a great workout huh! Hehehe...

Have a great day.. Happy Thanksgiving!

10th Week Update!!

We'll, Im just glad this week is over!! I'm disappointed in myself not because of how I ate but that I did not log my food over the holidays into fitday. Now I have to go back and piece it all together since thursday of last week. Oh well, I still ate very well and kept my Thanksgiving dinner to a very fair portion size. I pretty much abandoned my workouts over the holiday weekend also but kinda hard to blame me since the house was like grand central station! Anyways, my numbers look good and I am also due for my two week measurements that I will try and get posted up tonight. Time to kick it back into gear and get back on track tonight in the gym!

No, she hasn't started yet. She said the yoga class is once per week and they have other classes everyday. I think she planning on doing something 3 times a week. I noticed she has been working out a little more at home in the gym.

We'll I have not been doing well with my eating schedule. I have really been struggling to put together all my meals for the next day. I've still been eating very clean but not getting my 6 meals in and not very balanced. I got it doing last night though.. Made some baked salmon, brown rice, yam chips for dinner last night with left overs for today. I finally got back into the gym Monday night and had a solid workout the last two evenings. My cardio is 45 mins, 5mins 4.0 warm up, 20mins 5.5 jogging, then I finish the last 20 mins doing HITI going between 8.0 to 4.0. I try and get in about 4 weightlifting sessions a week. I did chest last night and I will do Bi's and Tri's tonight. I stopped doing my legs workout for the time being because It was ruining my cardio sessions. Even though I am weightlifting, I want to keep my cardio sessions a priority.

I took my two week measurements last night finally also, will update in another post.

Week 11 Update

Another good week.. I took last night off in th gym, man was I sore from the last couple days.. It seems that my body likes the days off. I think as my weight continues to decrease I will be able to work out more. I'm just trying to save my knees and feet from all the jogging. We'll hopefully I will have a good 12th week and I will have made 20pds lost.. We shall see!

Week 12 Update

We'll I have finished 3 months done!! I didn't do to well with my workouts this week, I actually only worked out one day in the last seven. Even though I wanted to work out I think I was just burnt a little. My mom is visiting for the holidays so I should be able to get in some really good workouts since we have help with the kids and my mom offered to do my healthy lifestyle cooking for us.. Looks like we will be spoiled for a little while. I'm going to push it hard this next week. My diet has still been really good but I had been struggling to make my every 3 hour meals. I will get that going again and hopefully get my metabolism charged up next week.

Overall, I am very pleased with the almost 1 pd lost for the week. Pretty much tells me that diet is always the most important. I'm going to shoot for a new short term goal of 209 on 12-22 just in time for christmas. My mid term goal will be 199 by the end of January 07. My long term goal remains at 180 by April 1, 07! Wish me luck!

Week 13 Update..

I have been doing well with the diet.. Average about 4-5 meals a day and always clean. I have not worked out all week, no time at all. I've been doing some work on the house every night so I have been very active anyhow. I could technically consider this my workout. Anyways, another good week. I might not be able to make 209 by next Friday but who cares, so what if it takes till next week. I've got my diet and lifestyle in check now and I'm very happy with the results. I'll report back on week 14! :)

Nice progress! remind me are you tracking your Body fat drops?

Hi Bunny,

I actually bought a bodyfat caliper but have yet to use it.. I have been so pleased with my very slow weightloss that I actually have not been to worried about it.. I had been more focused on my measurements every two weeks and I am actually late a week.. I need to measure up again.

When I first started at 234 the tanita scale said that I was at 30.3 bodyfat and at 211.8 the scale is at 25. I dont think this is a real bodyfat % but I definately have gained some muscle mass since starting my diet.

The great thing is last week we went to my wifes christmas party and my dress close fit great.. Last year I could not even get them on so we had to hit Macys for a fat suit. :worried: Anyways, time to donate that sucker!

Good for you. :) As long as you're satisfied & happy :)

Well I would reply more on the BF % then the scale for 'fat' loss. The scale is not the best way to measure that, something to incorporate when the scale stalls... it will eventually.

Happy Holidays & keep up the great work :rose:

Update Week 15 & 16!

Ok, I'm back!! Been really busy.. Working on some home projects and such and just enjoying the holidays.. I started back up on my tight diet on Monday but I have been really good for the last two weeks anyhow. Week 15 I did take the luxury and really upped my calories.. Week 16 I just went back to my normal diet. I got kinda scarred at first with my 15th week weigh in but it could have just been a slight swing in my weight. I have not lifted weights for about a month now so I look to get cracking this next week again. Stay tuned.. :chomp:

Week 17 Uodate!

Ok, I have to admit that I'm slipping. I would be ok with a slight increase in weight here but I have gone to by dark side a couple times. I need to get myself back to the weights and the treadmill. No more excuses for me. I have cheated numerous times this week, Taco Bell, Wendys, Big burritos, ect. I have still been eating well here and there but Im definately not being committed enough when I started. Im gonna be out of town on project for a few days so I will do the best I can eating wise but I must recommit myself on Monday when I get back. The only positive is that I will be mentally and physically working my tail this weekend.

Hi Ilk, happy new year! My wife has been doing very good. She has actually been more committed than me as of late. She has been pretty involved with the yoga at work and she's enjoying it.

She Started at 148pds

Yup. The secret to long term success is being able to get back up, when you fall.
