No doubt! The spenda is a godsend... :verygood: I also add in Cinn but with the berries I don't think i'll need it.

Don't be afraid of calories..you are a bigger guy and NEED those calories to function properly. Please keep in mind some things..

1.) (assuming you ate a bit more than you needed before, not as 'whole' as you are now) You will have to eat MUCH more whole foods to reach the same amount of calories, and it can be very easy to not eat enough.

2.)Assuming you were also more sedentary than active (now you are running a lot, and lifting) your caloric need is going to sky rocket as well

I think this is one of the biggest reasons diets fail. It is not because people can't commit, hell, I think that is the easy part. If you undereat with that activity you will burn through muscle instead of fat, and could potentially leave you more worse off than when you started.

I bring this point up because it seems like you are worried about 10 or 20 calories here (as I was at one point) when you should focus more on what to eat. Eat clean and form a calorie deficit of some form, and you will lose weight. In my opinion/experience, the closer that deficit be to maintenance the more percentage of fat will be lost, so don't try and eat 1000 calories..

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Thanks for the insight Poysyn,

You are totally correct.. I feel like I am eating way too much now since I am eating 5+ times a day with clean food. Its very hard for me to start eating when I'm not hungry. I'm also finding the my mind trys to play tricks on me when I starting eating, even though I am not feeling stuffed or totally full, my mind wants to keep eating until I can fit anymore food in there! :chomp:

I used to eat about 3 times a day with snacks mixed in before. I would get my Starbucks and a scone in the am. When noon hit, I would get a monster lunch Burrito, McDonalds., BurgerKing, Quiznos, Subway, ect. When my wife gets home from work we would go out to dinner 5+ nights a week. Anywhere, we eat Chinese one night, Taco Bell one night, Pizza Another (1 could knock down a Med Pepperoni, Pinneaple & sauage by myself  ). You get the picture.

We went out to dinner Thur & Fri night last week and I still eat clean. No bread! Ordered fish w/cottage cheese and veggies. I would never do that before.

I'm currently eating about 2300 cals per day now.
My wife is running about 1500 cals per day also

As you can see from my habits above, I should have no issues dropping the weight but I am a fat guy and mentally screwed up. Luckily for me, I have a decent muscular build so even at 234 I still looked half way decent. IMO of course. :mix:

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

We'll it's been 1 complete week for me now.. I think everything has been going good. With my diet plan and sticking to meals every 3 hours I never get hungry. I have put absolutely everything into fitday to be sure exactly where I want to be. This is my first week clean to a t..

End of 1st week stats..

34Yrs - M - 5'10 - 234Pds - BF% 30.03 Per Tanita Scale Start
Week 1: 229.8Pds - BF% 27.80 Per Tanita Scale

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Week two update..

Not going very good. Just depressed.. I want it to start happening too quickly. I have been lifting hard and doing cardio. I just ran a fitday report and these are my two week averages.

2,275 Calories 28% Fat 28% Carbs & 41% Protein

I weighed 228.2 this morning and have been there for almost a week. I feel like I may be doing something wrong. I'm tempted to drop my calorie intake down and I am really hesitant to up my calorie intake. Just confused.

Does anyone have the PC version of fitday that would be willing to take a look and my file and give me some advise?

My meal plan has been like this.

Wake: 2 Scoops Whey Protein
1 Tbs : Flax Seed Oil
1 Cap: Fish Oil
1 Cap: Multivitiamin

10:00am
3/4 Quaker Oats
1/4 Fruit added to oats

12:30pm
2 Slices Whole Wheat Flax Bread
2 Tbs ANPB
2 Tbs Sugar Free Jam

3:30pm
8oz Chicken Breast
1/4 Veggies

7:00pm
1/2 Cup Brown Rice
6oz Salmon

9:00pm Workout Lifting / Treadmill or both

10:00pm
2 Scoops Whey Protein

Hit the sack. Sometimes I have been getting up early AM and doing 30 min on treadmill if I lifted the night before and didn't have enough to get some treadmill time in.

Thanks for any help..

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

quit looking at the scale. It means NOTHING. If you are doing more workouts than you used to, that means you are adding MUSCLE, which weighs more than fat. The scale does not reflect this. Keep it up, and go based on how you feel. Is it easier to squat down and pick something up off the ground? Do your old jeans fit better?

Go by that.

Yeah, I'm definately wearing out the scale.. I did however get the tape measure out two weeks ago and measured all areas and entered into fitday. I was going to wait for a month before measuring again but maybe I'll do it every two weeks instead. I think my jeans are feeling looser but hard to tell since I have so many different pairs in different sizes from the way up... I did notice this morning that my 38's were way too loose and I put them on the upper shelf and wore some 36's today that were really comfortable.

I'm sore as hell from my leg workout on Tuesday night still. So squatting down and picking something up is not a good test right now. LOL But I have to say that I have been more active and felt better lately.

I will do some measurements tonight and post the results this evening. How often do you all suggest on taking tape measurements?

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Ok, here goes my measurements.. If a moderator happens to read this thread would it be possible to rename title to Biglips31 Log rather than me starting another thread. I'm really enjoying this forum and all the help and advice.

Start Two weeks Ago 09-15-06

Neck 17.0 - Bicep 13.60 - Forearm 12.20 - Chest 43.00 - Waist 43.50 - Hips 45.0 - Thigh 26.20 - Calf 17.50

Measurements Last Night 09-28-06

Neck 16.5 - Bicep 13.50 - Forearm 12.00 - Chest 43.50 - Waist 42.50 - Hips 44.0 - Thigh 27.00 - Calf 17.50

What do you all take on these measurements? Measurements were taken on guidelines of the fitday software for measurement points.

Thanks Much!

Capitalizt mentioned what I was going to mention!! Thats exactly it.. Throw that scale away damn it!!!

You're doing so well with your diet.. Don't allow anything to depress you, Diet is good and just keep at it, You're expecting too much tooooooo soon..

Eventually you'll be where you want to be, keep logging all that you eat and support is here when you want it! You should feel proud of yourself and feel depressed! We don't wanna hear that word again OK biglips! ;)

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Got it IIk,

Thanks for pep talk. I got a little off the diet Friday night and Saturday night due to wedding rehearsal and wedding dinner. Drank a little too much also. :verygood: Anyways, for the first time though I actually watched everything I eat and made very clean choice. Although my numbers for Friday & Saturday went to high (about 1,500 cals) then were all good clean foods except for the intake of alcohol which is very rare for my anyhow.

Anyways, right back to my normal schedule on Sunday. In the past this is generally where I fail. Getting back into the normal routine. I think I am finally realizing the lifestyle change that Im making. I will try and stay away from the scale and not worry about the numbers so much but will continue to post and weekly weigh in and bi-weekly measurements.

Re: Its time to get myself back in order.

Exactly..

Forget about the scales..

This is a lifestyle change..

Continue with progress.. If you slip up with diet.. Don't give up.. Always a new day to start fresh.. Well done for choosing suitable meals at wedding..

As long as you log and take note of what you're doing each day.. You're on the right track BigLips!
