big calves

New member
i desperately want big calves, im a fan of trenbolone and i have also got some hgh, will spot injections of hgh help build them up? Any advice?

no it wont. GH is only beneficial to spot fat reduction due to the fact that GH is catabolic to fat tissue (even thats arguable). But it will not do anything for size. the only thing that i could think for site growth is IGF-1 (and once again, thats very arguable). so my advice is: work your ass off and they'll grow. also try different methods, heavy weight-less reps or light weight-more reps. i do bodyweight and 400 reps, and they grow, so try different methods and stick to the one that works.

nope...sorry bro.. ive tried alot of different stuff.. while weights make my calves vascular, i found that wind sprints increased their size more than anything else.. just stick to the ass squats and eating.. calves are very much determined by genetics..

ye and so is everything else. sure an avarage guy wont get Yates' calves but if you work hard you can get some decent calves. look at arnold.

My secret method to huge shredded calves - TRAMPOLINE.

10 minutes of intense jumping using your entire legs to explode upwards focusing on full range of motion. Also great for cardio.

Mind you not one of those sissy ones with a 3ft diameter but the ones with the 15ft diameter!

i completely agree with u ... im only saying that for some men, it is an uphill battle.. i live in florida so people are in shorts most of the year.. its frustrating seeing guys who are 20-30%bf and have never touched a weight have big thick blocky calves... myself i workout religiously, eat right and use many different methods for attacking my calves, what do i get? I big vein or two down the center... i have very long calves so ill never get those big blocky athletics looking muscle bellies...

Spot injections of HGH, will not help with makeing your calves any bigger..You just need to train them hard.Calves are a hard part of the body to get bigger

I get what you mean bro. for some people (especially fatter people) calves are eazy to get coz they need to support their weight. the only thing i wanted the OP to know is that even though youre not born with Yates' calves doesnt mean you cant get them decent looking.

GO to the gym and train calves bro, spot injections aren't going to give you "big" calves.

ok thanks guys, do you have any tips for the lower part, underneath the main body of the calf-to the ankle, mine are well skinny. someone said that seated calf raise will work that, but my gym doesnt have that machine, any suggestions?

<y calves are my best bodypart. So, to get them there, train 3 times a week. Here is the excersisise I developed. Go to the dip rack, stack on ALOT of 45's from your waist. Now most dip racks have little foot peg/step near the bottom(aprox. a foot off the ground). Do you calf raises on this. Hardly hold your self on the paralesll dip bars for balance. IN fact I just barely touch the bars themselves with my index finger. Go high reps, practice rotating your foot from facing forward, then cocked to the left and to the right. As soon as you are done, drop the weight, stand on the "pegs' with one foot and do a burn out, repeat with other foot... Also, finish the farmers walks, you will look like an idiot and most gyms, but fuck them. Your traps, calves, anf forearms will get wicked..If you have any more ?'s PM me or hit me here

walk like you have a corncob up your ass, you know on your toes. Works for me. I rarely train calves, too much cramping.

agree. Calves need to be worked an enitrely different way as they are used every day,so a different approach is needed.
heres another exercise that works also, grab a belt & chain, find a platform that allows you to extend below the platform stretching the calves grab something to stablelize yourself ,now add an iron plate to the chain and proceed to do 100 reps, three sets of these and you will be sore as hell the next day, if you cannot comple the number of reps lower the weight until you can, concentrate on the stretch and contraction until you feel it.
This exercise will do a number on calves.

Exactly, Radar had posted this with his extreme rutine and I've been doing 100 reps just like he said and man, do they kill. best calf workout i've had so far.

By far my best Bodypart - 20" cold.

I started building them when I was in College, for basketball - I put 2in on them in 3 months using Strength Shoes (still haven't found a more grueling calf workout)
I used to just put em' on and jog until I fell over from the burn. They stretch your achillies out too, so that you develop a greater range of motion for other weighted calf exercises.

I've done every exercise routine under the sun to build my calves. They are tough!
Guys born with big ones are very fortunate.

I have noticed that they do grow with increased body weight.
And are the first body part to shrink as you cut.

My conclusion is: heavy weight and 8-10 reps. Even then, it is slow progress. Seated first and then standing.

Arnold got his biggest increase doing 10 sets of 10 with 300-500 lbs, standing calve raises.

Once you get the size you want, I recommend donkeys .... you can watch the muscles as you go up and down. Creates a nice diamond.

I am intrigued by the Strength Shoes. Imagine going for a walk and coming back with giant calves. :)

This is a body part I built up as well..... Best exercise routine for me was doing calf raises on a leg press machine..... Load up the weight so you can only do like 6 reps (usually need over 400lbs), Lots of stretching between sets, I do 4 sets of these..... After that, I do donkey raises with heavy weight, again go for 6 reps, 4 sets, lots of stretching in between..... After that, move into non weighted calf raises on a step..... Just burn out as many as you can possibly do, 4 sets as well.... Your calves will be engorged with blood at this point, it's a very effective workout for the calves..... It encorporates heavy resistance, with light high rep training too..... It helped me greatly.....

The first time you wear them, they tell you to just walk around in them (heels NEVER touching the ground) for 20-30min - just around the house.

The next day - you will FEEL it.

I've had the same pair for 10 years and they are STILL in great shape.
The burn you get from using them, ESPECIALLY jumproping with them is unsurpassed.

I do seated calf raises with 360lbs, 8 45's. It fills up the bar on the machine but it is so heavy. Then I do standing calf raises, 100 reps as recommended by Radar, with as much weight as I can handle. Last time I did 225 for all 100. Works good for me.

Maybe this explains my freaky calves. I've only been training for a year and I had to lose 70lbs but my calves are still 3" bigger than my arms. When I was younger I had a trampoline from the ages of about 5-15 that I had years of fun with, and also 3 broken ankles.

16" arms
19" calves
26" quads

Cheers 64pilot, what do you do for traps?

Normally just shrugs, but I hold at the top for a good few second. I also rotate them from different positions... then finish with some farmers walks.....My calves are built enough now that I dont need to reallty do them, the farmer walk portion of my back, trap, and forearms day knocks them out.....and keeps them veiny and ripped////However, I should start working the outside of my calves a bit, seem to be losing some size on the outside

I had a huge problem with skinny calves. When I was in high school I got a pair of sneakers with elevated toes. Something like these:

http://www.jumpusa.com/p14.htm (but different - I cannot remember the brand - I do remember the price and they were around $200)

Calves recuperate rather quickly too - hit what Radar said - and smoke them until they hurt.

When I do legs/calves my foot shakes when I have to hit the clutch on the drive home - if it doesn't then I didn't train hard enough.

I train those puppies 3 times a week, I've gaine .5 inch on them lol. Stubborn pricks. Probably need to cut it down to twice a week.

unfortunately I was born with bad calve genetics, but thanks to my friends advice the're coming out, I work calves 3 times a week each time doing different exercise, you have to shock the muscle for it to grow and fatigue it to total failure. drop set, super set work good for this. I wouldn't spot shoot them though the pain is a bitch and they don't really grow.
