Windsprints, no question about it

I have been doing some Pushup Sprints too. Windsprints are great too!

Just curious of the opinions between these four machines in the gym. I like stairs alot, but now I'm hearing I will lose muscle on stairs.

Jumprope in intervals for me. Go hard for a minute then take a breather, repeat for 30-40 min. Windsprints are awesome too. Both are HIIT variations.

Jogging OUTSIDE not on a Treadmill
The "Gaunlet" Stairmaster is a close second to running.

I only approve of wind sprints after a long warm up
so many just hop right into them and thats asking for a blown hammy or knee, and or joint problems..........

HIIT of some sort. I get shinsplints so I don't have much luck w/ the sprints, but you can do intervals on any eqpt. I tend to mix up all 4 of those and also spread steady-state and HIIT across them as well.

eliptical hit by far. i burn over 1100 calories an hour, usually 400-600 for a 20-30 min set on low 1-3 level but 10+ speed. it's basically running but without the impact.

You're in Florida, right? Some of us knuckleheads in the NE are fairly limited in when can run outside, unless of course we want to head out for our cardio looking like the little brother from A Christmas Story, lol... ;)

can you elaborate, windsprints deplete glycogen quick and don't have sustained fat burning implications.
possibly because they raise GH levels(a powerful cutter)
look at pics of pro sprinters vs pro long distasncers
Researchers show that HGH can be increased by as much as 530 percent through sprinting activities

I personally am not a fan of running, elipticals or anything of that solo nature. I perfer racket or hand ball after workouts for roughly 1-2 hours. This works very well for me.

Just finished my PM cardio.

15 minutes Treadmill. Incline=10 Speed= 3.8

15 minutes EFX. Incline=17-20 Resistnce=10

25 minutes. bike kept HR @ 130

Feeling pretty good.

That is the best darn weather to run in. Not only is your body burning calories because of the cardio it is burning more to stay warm. I love running in blizzards.

45mins on the heavy bag x2 a day...best cardio in the world for me~
I have to agree. 45min kickboxing is my favorite now. I burn the most cals compared to anything else. Plus it is actually useful to learn.

Jujitsu, Jeet Kwon Do (Bruce Lee style), Boxing,
elyptical, windpsrints, moutain biking,

surfing

...anything bedsides long distance running for me.

I'm down with the eliptical, no stress on the knees :)

I hate Eliptical (EFX)... because of the unnatural stride. I can't seem to find a rythm on the machine.

Swimming for me. But dont have access to a pool all the time, so I have to opt for elyptical. I was running earlier this year, but it started to get hard on my knees and ankles.

I have been doing my cardio with my HR at around 135 in the so called
"Fat Burning Zone" (23 yrs old) but I am going to start doing 30 minutes 6 days per week (45 min on non-workout days) at a HR between 160-170. Why not? I'm burning more calories right???

id have to say Hockey....I m playing in a mens league this year...

As far as anything else.....hands down sprints....its quick fast and its the best excercise for the loosing the least amount of muscle....

that didn't stop rocky

^^ So High Intensity seems to win the battle.....Any other opinions out there?

half an hour of hitting the heavy bag and 15 for speed bag and 15 for jumprope = one hour. really good workout and hitting the bag and learning how to punch right can help you use those muscles for something when it comes down to it. unlike most bodybuilder's "all show no go" muscles. ive seen the scariest looking people with huge ripped arms, traps that look like mountains and when they think they no how to fight, they find out the hard way and realize that they dont know whut they're doing besides that they're big and on roids. trust me, been thru alot of fights in my life, won many, lost one. everyone who i fought in my life were all bigger then me, every single one of them.

hope this helps u out.

I just fell in love with Eliptical this week. Easy on the knees and I burn a ton of calories, sweat like a maniac too! Once you find the right incline you can get in a good rythm

Agreed!! Swimming is the best!

Any thoughts?
I am doing HI intensity cardio (HR between 160-170 23 yrs 227lbs) 6 times per week at 30 minutes.

I am losing weight, but what would the experts change?

like pretty much anything else, its at the very least somewhat individual.

HIIT is quite effective for many people.

walking is highly underrated as a fat loss tool, especially in those with moderate to high body fat.

though whats sustainable and least likely to cause injury FOR YOU, is typically whats best.

because if you get hurt or its just too miserable then you will eventually end up not doing it.

The best way to burn fat is to workout well below your lactate threshold... meaning long and easy... I am very into sober rides and post dinner workouts...

Sober rides are in the morning before breakfast I ride the bike with a small gear for 60-90 min well into my easy easy level... so mainly to get the body burning fat and jump start my matabolism... then I do not eat more than 250 kcal at a time for the rest of the day (but I eat around 6 small meals)

then if I am looking to really burn I add in a pre bedtime ride at the same pase with a few sprints at the end to make my body need to recover durring sleep.

I find this really helps me make racing weight and I do not really loose muscle...

but I am not 220 lbs either...

Cutting back the cardio from 6 days per week to 4. Losing muscle too fast. I expect to lose a little, but I went crazy with the cardio

For me running on long distances for about 30-40 min at a slow-moderate intensity burns fat, slow and sure but it preserves the muscle so in about 2 months I got rid of fat, now I'm at 12% and preserved almost all the muscle

Great link.

I honestly get my best cardio on the elliptical for 45 mins twice a week after a full body workout with light weights at 2 sets x 15-20 reps

Guerrilla Cardio

I am living proof of this article PRINT THIS AND READ IT
i used to weigh 228 FAT AS PHUCK and went to 168 then decided to put on some muscle cause i looked like a twig. I started dieting and cycling for 4 hours on sat and 4 hours on sun. I ran every morning on an empty stomach and did situps and pushups at the end.
I went from size 38 to 30 it was unreal!! i have before and after pics if anyone is interested.
