BC, Var, and prep

Some last minute questions before "the prep"... Drum roll please... :)

I'm on a cycle of var--12.5 mg/day, split into 2 doses. When prep starts (day after Xmas), I'll be in about the 8th week. But I'm also taking birth control, specifically microgestin fe 1.5mg/30mcg. My understanding is that it's low estrogen. Should I find another birth control method?

I considered doing a cycle of winny closer to show time. But I read that winny is notorious for hair loss. And I already had that problem when I did a round of test prop last year. Hair along my right temple fell out. It's just now growing back in-- I've got about 2" growth and it looks like crap. :) so I don't want that to happen again and I'm worried that since that receptor has been "activated" that the winny might re-activate it. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Sorry I'm not much help chic , just wanted to ask you how much test p did you take a d for how long?

Hope you get answers to you ?

Hey FC!

So I have a few thoughts about this. First of all, you're competing figure? I'm assuming that from your name but this sounds like a pretty involved AAS regimen, depending which organization is hosting your event. What competition are you doing?

It would be helpful to know some stats on you. How much weight do you have to lose? Do you know your current bodyfat? Do you have a lot of muscle mass you need to gain still? You may not need all of this stuff and you may even find that it's easier without it.

Regarding the birth control issue... Oy, this is complicated. You most certainly should not be taking the two things together. They both cause blood clots and the result could be catastrophic. Also, if you were getting sides I would stay away from any Test preparations. You could try a low dose of Winnie but you may have a susceptibility to the androgenizing effects. Primo might be a consideration but I don't know anything about your current composition or your goals so it's kind of ridiculous to speculate. There are a lot of options out there -- can you provide more info?

Personally, I don't think sides are ever really worth it. Unless you're really genetically not a muscle-gaining gal, you shouldn't really need all of this to be competitive at figure.

What are your goals?

I would stick with Var. You know how your body reacts. It will help you maintain muscle and keep a full look.

Lol about my name. It's actually a joke between my husband and I coz I'm not anywhere NEAR the body type of a figure girl. :) I'm 5'10, 176, prob about 15% bf. I'm likely going to compete at either BB or physique. I have my heart set on physique but we'll see what happens when I lean out. When I go off cycle, I drop down to 169 within just a few days. My best guess is that I'll need to drop about 15 lbs. I think I've got enough muscle, but I sure don't have a problem with potentially getting more. :)

I'm 39 yrs old, have been on bc for close to 20 yrs. have taken numerous rounds of aas, nothing ever really too serious, usually the milder ones like var and primo and I played with some gh a bit. Was curious what test prop would do, and well, curiosity killed the cat. :) won't try that again. Lol

My goal is to be competitive. Depending on what I look like, my first show will be a national show. I'm not scared of the scope of that, but I'm also a realist-- if I don't look like how I wanna look, I'll skip that show and do a more localized one three weeks later. They are both NPC competitions.

Thnx for the responses! :)

i was only taking half a cc, once or twice a week. for about 8 weeks. but i was stacking it with var and gh at the same time. i think i screwed myself by doing it all at the same time. whoops! :) i'm a little smarter about how i cycle now. and that's all b/c i get lots of good info from this board!

that's probably what i'll end up doing. i'm just worried about staying on it for so long. i usually will take a 12 week cycle, then go off for 12, etc. but if i stay on the whole time, i'd be on for about 24 weeks. that sounds scary. :)

A lot of the competitive bb women I know (which isn't a huge group lol) go off the pill for competition prep because of the estrogen component. They would be using higher levels of aas, though, and anti-estrogens, as well. I stayed on for my first show but wasn't cycling and I honestly don't know how much of an impact it would really have (outside the health risks CB mentioned).

I did go off last year when I was running a couple cycles and prepping and I noticed I overall felt better but it's a real killer letting your body adjust. Maybe it's age and moving into those peri menopausal years but the first couple months off and now, this year, the first couple months back on b/c....have been tough. Mood swings, skin issues etc.

I am one of the few who actually likes winny and the way it hardens you up. I haven't experienced hair loss from winny specifically but have had hair loss from the ongoing changes in hormonal levels in my body. Had I competed last year, my plan included var up until 6 weeks out and would have switched over to winny. It's so hard to predict the sides but I'm guessing you'd probably see a bit of hair shedding, if it's something you've already experienced.

I'm not a big fan of OCPs to begin with... And for someone competing it's like the opposite of a SARM/SERM cycle. Obviously it's up to the individual but if it's just for contraception and there are no other health reasons to take it, I'd say stop it and use other contraception.

The other thing is that having a birth control-induced period doesn't necessarily mean that you would get your period if you were off the pill. What I'm saying is that you might not be "dropping eggs" when your body fat gets low, but you'll never know this while you are getting the "fake period" being on the pill gives you.

This may not matter to most people, but it's just something to consider. In general, if there's no really good reason to be on something it's better to leave it out.
