Battling the same incline chest dumbells weight for 1.5 yrs

he said 70's ON A CYCLE!! that's what makes me laugh, obviously his heart isn't in it or his genetics are worse than most women, probably both.

Look the guy didnt post to be laughed at. If you dont have anything helpful to add to the post, you dont need to post at all. No need to be a dick. I wont even start with the fact that you essentially just insulted the female sex.

If your not increasing your weight then something is up. I would guess diet (that tends to be the main problem with most people), but it also wouldnt hurt to change up your routine. Make sure you plan well, follow, and hopefully you'll be gainin in no time ;)

i mean come on, this is what people mean when they say build a good base, guys don't want to put in the hard work on the barbell movements, everybody is on the dumbbells or the Smith or Hammer machines, i was pressing the 130's for reps on the incline before i even touched juice, and my genetics ain't shit.

this isnt about what you can do, so keep your mouth shut! and stop flaming someone asking for help.

I don't bench. Hits my front delts hard. When I started lifting I moved quickly up from the 45 lb dumbells on incline to the 65's with no problem. Now I can get the 70's up for three or four when I'm doing a heavy cycle, but never much more and once I move to a lighter cycle I can't put them back up until I train heavy again (even if I mix some heavy and light). I've tried forced reps, going up to 75, 80, and 85lbers with assisitance. On my heavy lift cycles I tried to keep it in the 3-5 range with anywhere from 3-5 minutes in between. I work tri's, but stay away from front delt work because they bust like crazy. I think I have reached my genetic limit. Anybody been here done that, have some suggestions?

one of your biggest problems,,you have to work delts,

any major body group such as chest being primary, shoulders and tri are secondarys , try increasing those and your chest will get stronger, if you dont have an lifting partner get one that is serious and consistant, and diet is key. youll get it.

He's not talking about steroids, he's talking about training cycles(heavy, medium, light) And if you're too stupid to figure this out please refrain from posting in this forum. It is completely unecessary to rip into someone asking for help, especially when you can't even fathom what he is talking about. So take your condescendence and be gone.

Do some straight bar work. Add a flat bench motion. Do less warm-up sets/reps. Work the accessory muscles(lateral delts, traps, triceps) and most importantly vary your workouts so you aren't just repeating the same thing over and over again.

Cheers,
Scotsman

What about the core exercises? Are you doing deads and squats? I generally prefer doing db bench, but after doing deads for only 2 months or so now, my bench has gone up at least 20 pounds. If you can strengthen your core, other bodyparts will follow.

I did an HST cycle using barbell incline bench as my main chest move and my incline bench really shot up during that period. I was able to rep out with 100s at the end up from 75s or 80s before it.

On a different note, I just want to comment on your question. I see many questions like this on a daily basis. People are always asking why they aren't making any more progress. The truth is that the answer is pretty much always the same (there are very few people at their genetic limits and all of them know it). I'm a firm believer that long term progress is driven by increases in strength in the main compound movements such as bench, squat, deadlift, and row. If you are not progressing in these lifts, then either your training program or your diet is poor (or both). The fact of the matter is that everyone is different, and answering your question like I've done above is not really helpful. Just because I made progress on my incline dumbell press during that time period does not mean it will work for you. Perhaps the key driver of my improvements was that my diet or sleeping habits were particularly good during that time period.

What I'm trying to convey is that you're asking the wrong question. Instead of asking what you can do to improve your incline bench press, you should be taking a more top-down approach and asking what (at a high level) is wrong with your training program and diet. I promise the information you get out of such an inquiry will be of much higher quality, especially if you take the time to write out in detail what your training and diet consist of.

killz is on the money tho- Incline bench is still a compound movement: you're not working only your chest but other muscle groups as well, even your lats. All of them working together is what makes your bench strong. Check out the Training Information Vault in this forum. It's a good place to go for new ideas.

I seriously doubt you are at your genetic potential
why not try moving to a BarBell

doesnt make sense. Inclines hit front delts alot harder than flat bench. Start doing BB bench press 5x5 & your DB bench will go up.
