Back lacking because of chest?

when I was at the chiropractor today, doc was telling me that my rhomboids were developing slowly or not at all cause my chest was over developed.
I dont train them the same day and train them equally. Could this be true?

the fact that your chest development is further along than your back does not suppourt the idea, that that's whats causing your back not to develop. you need to look at your back training. are you doing dynamic rows, deads and chins. these excercises will make all the little cookie cutter muscles grow. and what about your training frequency? how often are you training your back? you should pull 3x a week.

Either your Dr. is an idiot, or you misunderstood what he said. I have a feeling it was a communication thing, and the Dr. is not an idiot and you simply misunderstood him.

Developed chest muscles do not cause the back to be proportionately weaker....BUT a well-developed chest accompanied by a weak, underdeveloped back is a sign that a trainee works their chest excessively at the expense of proper back training, and thus develops an inblance. Most people seen at most commercial gyms have this issue due to America's obsession and fascination with the bench press to the point where it causes neglect of the rest of the body.

You should set a goal for yourself. Your STRICT barbell row performed correctly should be about equal to your bench press numbers. Working towards this goal should take care of your problem.

your rhomboids can be inhibited with an overly developed and perhaps tight chest. Also tight and overly developed lats can do the same. it causes your shoulder girdle to protract and gives you a slumped shoulder look. this changes the length/tension relationship of your upper back and shoulder girdle. rhomboids and mid lower trapezius most specifically.

rows and high face pulls with emphasis on retracting your shoulder blades (pinching them together with shoulders depressed) should be your main fix, as welll as some strong stretches for your chest and lats.
