Attn: Gun Bros....

lol bill's a good bro even if he is going liberal in his old age

Be specific which proposed law you have a problem with and which gun that you have that will be illegal ?

I am far from liberal but I don't have a problem with background checks before people buy guns.

I think most people are having a shit fit without even reading the recomdations.

I have problem with the assault weapons ban. It did nothing last time it was in effect. I've got an AR15. Will it be illegal to own? I couldn't really care less about the background checks between individuals. If I want a gun someone I know is selling, I guess I'll be a criminal. They already run background checks when you buy retail. I don't like giving the government more control over what I can and can't do.

What happens when the gun crime doesn't change much? Do they make it illegal for me to carry? Go after all handguns? Ban pump action shotguns? Over/unders?

Did you forget that the lanza kid killed his mother and had all of the guns illegally? Why would he follow these laws? Would any of these laws have changed the outcome of sandy hook?

the "Assault weapons bans" that happen are only limited to retail sellers, manufacturers, and gun show sales. Nobody has to turn their guns in if they already own one. You just cant sell it (legally anyway).

Sound like a useless law that wont curb any violence? Thats what happened the first time around.

For the record, Assault weapons ban was not from president's proposal. Nobody is proposing to take your assault weapon but let me ask you this, don't you think a ban on sales is a reasonable compromise to losing something more important like hand guns?

Also, I guess they won't admit it here but how do you think men in uniform think about assault weapons being owned available to purchase by the general public?

That's what I thought. Same as last time. Didn't work then. Why would it now?

They're proposing banning high capacity mags for all semiautomatic weapons though, right?

I never mentioned the president. Doesn't matter who proposes it. No, I don't like giving up assault weapons. It further separates me from our elitist government.

I don't see why men in uniform should be intimidated by law abiding citizens owning semiautomatic rifles. The background checks they run now should prevent criminals from owning them legally. Why would they be intimidated by law abiding citizens unless we're going into a complete police state?

I guess to you, I'll just sound like a crazy person clinging to my guns in that last post.

But the ban did nothing last time. Why would it be different this time? And I can't see how banning sales will help the men in uniform when the only people not buying them legally will be law abiding citizens.

Yes on the high capacity mags. Like in reality that would make any diff at all. How many seconds does it take to change out a mag? VERY FUCKING FEW!
Yet again clueless politicians with a fucking knee jerk reflex only concerned about getting votes next election.
Anything, anything at all in this fucking mess gives them a foothold to grab our guns.
Do not let them get that foothold! EVER!!
BTW the majority of "assault weapons" are not even that. Most of joe public cant afford the tax stamp to actually own a REAL assault weapon.
But the fucking mass media blathers on and on about "assault weapons....

FYI - dea and police tend not to be dealing with law abiding citizens.

Also, how far do you take the " separation from elitist government"? Should you be allowed to make bombs? Have nukes? Was what Timothy McVeigh did a righteous thing?

firstly, fuck compromise. There shouldn't even be a discussion about limiting law abiding citizen's ownership of any firearm

Secondly, what do you want to know about the military's view on semiautomatic weapons in the general public? I'll tell you anything you want to know, and not just from a personal standpoint. The general consensus in the military is easily explained.

Your fuck compromise will get you in more limitations. Romney had the right answer - gone control new to be negotiat thru the NRA and the NRA needs to be prepared to give.

Bad wording but I was talking more about law enforcement officers, not military.

I know they don't deal with law abiding citizens. The background checks required to sell guns of any kind ensures that criminals can't buy them legally. Why do we need more laws? I could compromise, I guess, with background checks being required between private individuals as long as they don't go into a national database.

I never proposed we go back the other way, allowing citizens to own nukes, missiles, etc. But I don't like going the way they're trying to go now. The more we give up, the more they're going to take. If these laws don't work, the next thing that happens is they ban more guns or take some away.

Bringing McVeigh into the argument is a little offensive, btw. Has anything I've said made you think I would be in agreement with anything that crazy bastard did?

compromise is fine until a pattern developes. It's not compromise, it's saying 'ok, take part of our rights now, leave the rest to take away later'

This has been done before and keep in mind the Godfather of the conservative movement, Reagan, supported it. Everyone survived.

I totally agree!
Why don't they increase the sentence on conviction of breaking a law using a weapon?

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the people to possess arms. History shows that all countries who have allowed their people to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the people is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police. Troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the USA,."

I took some editorial license to make this quote in more line for 2013..

I don't have a gun in this fight. I could care less just don't see what the attachment is to assault rifles.

I will tell you this, if you fucks push back so hard and they come back with restrictions on hand guns and shot guns, I will not happy and be pleased to explain what redneck fucks you all are.

I have exactly one "assault weapon" out of the 10+ guns I own and have no immediate plans to acquire more. But I still want the right to acquire any weapon (not of mass destruction of course) I choose, as long as I'm a law abiding citizen.

A true 'assault rifle' is a military style selective fire weapon system, capable of either full auto or three shot burst

A fucking semi-automatic .223 is a glorified deer rifle. Fuck off with all the scare tactics.

is the Browning BAR considered an assault rifle?

by definition, no. it's a semi auto hunting rifle (a fucking badass one) but it isn't capable of any constant fire selection

But according to libtards, it's a weapon of death, considered on the same level as a .50cal full auto, and must be done away with! For the children!

Yeah, i know.

I meant is it going to be illegal to sell under the proposed assault weapon ban. I need to pick one up soon if its on the ban list.

yes, because it's capable of a detatchable magazine if you remove the load chamber cover. Makes it an 'assault rifle'

Most fuckin accurate semi auto in existence. I can put a nickel group together at 150 yards with mine

Bitches cost a lot though, you can get a fully loaded out AR for the price of one, but you won't find an AR that can hang with it in the long distance hunting category

Mine is an engraved nickel plated grade 4 300 mag and I paid like 5 for it. Brother in law has it in the 7mm model grade 4 with a badass leupold glass setup that he got used for 3

5k??

Last time I checked I could've sworn they were a little over a grand. Been a while though. Hell, my dad's buddy sold him a like new, blued .243 for like a grand a year or two ago. Must be the engraving that drives the price up so much.

yeah you can get lower grade models for a good bit cheaper. The engraving really doesn't drive it up too much unless it's personalized. Mine isn't personalized, just a factory design with some gold big game animals in it, but he's got a limited edition with his family crest and name and shit, birthday, and manufacture date. Pretty sweet family heirloom.

The 30-06 and .274/.243 models aren't that expensive, you could get one for around 1500 but with the scare going on right now I bet even those base models are in upwards of 2-3k
