I think the opposite about men i think they try to get a few women in order to feel good about themselves because they suffer from esteem issues and need to feel special.

Women tend to be sentimental about stuff - again back to that emotional thing. Even if you guys arent' together, you hold a special place in her memories so she kept the stuff. I've done that w/ some stuff and either tossed it because I truly got pissed off at the guy, it was just time to let it go completely or the memories just became irrelevent. I wouldn't read too much into it.
